Nothing too unusual about that traceroute apart from some jumpy latency perhaps -- www.telkom.co.za is ICMP-firewalled so you won't reach it (you'd see those timeouts even if your line was perfect)
 
Same problems, variable line speeds from 1,8 - 5,5 at best on a 10mbps line.

After 10 callouts, Telkom tech has admitted there is a problem with the copper lines from the junction (Lotus Rd) to the exchange - serious degradation and they need to pull new copper - which, apparently is not in plan!!

So, I am paying for 10mbps, as ADVERTISED by Telkom as available in my area, that cant be delivered. I think the Consumer Complaints Commission and the ASASA are due a call.
