If you look at my left cubicle wall you will see my usb-webcam-periscope that I have running in a small always on top 50% transparent window on my desktop, this is to see who is sneaking up on me before they catch me doing something nasty.
Eish - you guys need to work for more relaxed companies. I have been with my current company for about 8 years now and the reason it has been that long is purely because it is a very relaxed and positive environment where one can be yourself and contribute a lot of yourself to your work.
Anyways, I know bwana is not going to be impressed with the tangent I took you guys on this afternoon, but taking a picture at the exact moment in time can sometimes lead to conversation
. So to close off with, at least from my side on the topics of desks, here is my home setup - also owned by a cat.

Well, taking pictures at work is OK. It's just posting it on-line which is strictly forbidden. The only time there was when I snapped a my previous manager browsing monster.com at work on work time. I sent it on to a colleague, who sent it on a to a few other people, and somehow it ended up in the inbox of said manager's manager, who wasn't too impressed
Bizarrely, taking pictures around the office is a hassle. The body corporate of the business park has a real problem with it, but cannot explain why not. They're just full of **** - they won't allow us to braai in the parking lot either.

That's why I left Stellenbosch. Although I did like the lifestyle, it's a nice place to live. I always thought I'd retire there one day (until I saw Scotland, that is).
Anyway, I'm pretty happy where I am. I have a good job, I never ever have to touch Windows, I don't have to drive, I earn alright, my company treats me really really well (we feature in the Sunday Times top 100 companies to work for every single year), and I have ridiculously fast internet.
I'm coming to Die Bos at the end of the year anyway, buddy of mine is getting married. Should be a blast although I'm a bit disappointed at the demise and deterioration of The Workshop and Jan Catz respectively.
Three of the leg clamps (dunno what else to refer to them as) snapped off at the hinge.

Ouch, you don't expect that from a brand like Manfrotto.
When I was looking for a tripod I was told that those ones were pretty good.
How did they snap, what were you doing, how much weight was on it?
You really dont.
The plastic snapped where the latch that locks the legs pivots (if that makes sense). I was able to temporarily fix it by slipping a thick cable tie over it but they just kept popping so I decided to get it sorted.
There wasn't that much weight - generally my 400D body with a kit lens. I only really used it for lightning shots and the occasional landscape.

In terms my office its more because of the stuff we do and develop and just how much infromation is lying around the office.....
Its a very relaxed environment, I couldn't ask for a better place to work ultimately.. consistently listed as one of the best IT companies to work for in KZN and SA.
