Goodbye Vodacom

I've had my voice contract with Vodacom since they launched in SA. I have added another three contracts over the years for the wife, kid and data device. Last month I received a bill for using 7GB OOB. A cost of a few thousand ront. A few calls later where I, of course, was at fault and Vodacom made it clear that they were doing me a huge favor by crediting the amount. I'm pretty certain that after all these years I can manage my data responsibly, so bye bye Vodacom. I have cancelled two of my contracts that have run their course and the other two will follow suit.
Also been with vodacom since inception. They really don't care though - in my house they've already lost out on two contracts, with me to follow.

We no longer have vodascam in our house. Changed a couple.months ago.

Used to have 4 contracts with Vodascum. 2 are now with Telkom & the other with FNB Connect. Cannot be happier. Vodascum will never get another cent from me.

Vodacom have lost the plot. Our company is moving it's 500 odd contracts over to cellc.

OMG spent 40+ minutes trying to cancel and got the runaround with them refusing to assist.

Gonna PM @Ockie and see if he can assist

After 21 years with vodatwat I've just moved to Telkom. Have been out of country for 4 years using other sims and get told i need to dumb down my phone to save data. Wtf? I used 7gig per month normally on LTE ,here I'm blowing a gig in 48 hours and the tossers can't get my 4g activated.

But the reps here say oob only impacts a small few. Sorry but BULLSHEET

It sucks having to switch off your mobile data to avoid the shark even after topping up.
There is only so many times you can top up a gig before you reach almost R1500 in costs.

Totally agreed. The system doesn't tell you in real time so by the time you have topped up you are already oob

That's what I like about Telkom's system - it physically pauses your connection (too bad for you if it times your connection out) and asks you what you wanna do.

I prefer a hardcapped solution like this one (it may go one or two Mb's over which is acceptable) which gives you total peace of mind when taking out a contract (phone or SIM) for your needs.

Now CellC also send SMS'es to inform me where I'm at with my data - but I would also prefer them to implement the same system as Telkom... for now I have My Data Manager installed, and it does a good job informing me regarding my bandwidth usage. Of course I do the USSD thing to make sure that My Data Manager is correctly counting my usage, and that there's no nasty OOB sharkies waiting...

So why can't or why won't VC do it ?
Because it's a money maker.

Look on cell C I don't care going OOB at 15 cents a Meg.
It's the same as buying a bundle
Really awesome

I ****ing hate voda****, been struggling to get a transfer of ownership done from my dad to my name for over 4 months!!!! And I keep getting empty promises from everyone involved with voda****, the manager(lindy-lee coetzee) of voda**** Greenstone Mall is abso****inlutely useless, keeps promising me to phone me back and never does.

I am glad im making the right choice to go to Cell C, I just hope they can do the transfer so that I can keep my number.

My contract will be cancelled end of November
Never had problems.
Telkom is r100 cheaper for the phone i want and alot more extras

Called in my end of contract move to prepaid today for the move to FNB.

What is odd is my contract ends 16 Nov but I only get moved to prepaid 1 Dec. Must be a billing thing.

Hmmm
I was told to call beginning of nov to be on prepaid from beginning of December
Will call tomorrow to confirm

So far so good. Calls don't alternate between crystal clear and this mono sound all the time. Not sure what VC were trying to achieve. My bundle has lasted the whole month which is awesome. The notifications are real time. Not sure why VC couldn't get this right. Perhaps they need new engineers? The app is really brilliant. Far superior to VC. VC really are going to lose thousands of customers. You don't listen ......you will lose
Must say when VC calls were on that stereo sound it was awesome but it was bloody irritating when it switched all the time. Oh and I have ever 3 000 minutes left and a few thousand SMS left as well. Out of the 6 gigs I had due to pro rata amount this month i still have about 700megs left today

On Prepaid.. After 12 years I was a little sad to leave my longest relationship but hoping Telkom doesn't give me any grief.

So my Telkom Freeme 20gb prepaid account should be activated sometime today. 1st of 4 contracts up for renewal, being ported.
