Hey hey, I'm not positive about the hardware, the model number etc.. and its 4 meters up on a pole on my roof, so I cant check lol, but this is what I observed from when they installed it. It came in a box labelled "Poynting", the router software they used to access it was called Winbox 2.9. I looked it up, its Mikrotik software. It's the only way to access the router, 192.168.0.1 in a browser does not work, but I downloaded the Winbox software and managed to connect to it. I also saw that the unit has an ISACA sticker on it with a licence number. I've had the connection on a nice Bandwidth monitor, with daily logs, and average Upload and Download rates etc, for 12 days now, my bandwidth monitor is showing 12.05gb. Thats 8.11 down and 3.94 up. I was getting an average of 800mb down and 200mb up per day for the first 9 days or so, with some days being less because I was gaming on SAIX (Battlefield 2 gets a 50-150mx ping in the daytime, at night punkbuster kicks me off for over 400ms ping). Yesterday I left utorrent on for the full 24 hours, and in that period my Download was 1.12gb and Upload was 1.10gb. 2.22gb total in 24 hrs. So at the maximum one could theorectically could do 60gb of traffic a month? The only worry I have is that with my usage it's gonna become unaffordable for them to continue this uncapped service lol. Am I over using? But then they shouldn't call it uncapped should they?

I've signed up with Screamer on a 128k uncapped account for R350 a month and managed just over 29gb that first month. There wasn't a day that I wasn't getting a full 16kb/s. Granted I have to use encryption for torrents, and they seldom get good speeds, I just enqueued about ten of them and their combined speed maxed out the connection. So far so good.

What area are in? - Missing the old 128k uncap days :)

Proud to be a screamer user, you actually want to scream due to the poor service/connection for the past month. Telkom please come and take my money.

Zerowire is the crap GWI sold to everyone in PTA. It is a 2.4ghz antenna with a router built-in

I've got the manual if you still need.I've also got old setup backups (I hope). PM me if you still need.

So what happens if you do not have the $$$ to buy a new CPE?

Do they leave you with what you have?

I so wish somebody from GWI/Screamer would come onto the forum again.

Do you think we were too harsh on the previous guys?:D

I'm pretty sure there are a few Jawug guys who would be happy to buy your second hand Mikrotik kit...
Not the ZeroWire stuff, only the Mikrotik stuff.
Any Jawug guys following this thread that want to investigate this?

The problem is I actually got myself a 433 so I could put both 5.8 and 2.4 radios on one rb using a single enclosure.

WUG and WISP in one!

pfff, now they go and change the equipment. Just my luck.:D

They charge R4XX for the new equipment for existing client.

To own? I bought my router and antenna. Where does that leave me?

Still, my "single enclosure"option seems out anyway.

I hope they upgrade the whole network to WIMAX. The more stable connection would be great!:D
