"Help me fix my internet" report tool

Telkom

I had the same problem just after the upgrade.
Tracert results was all over the show.
During the day it was bit better at night times unworkable.
To get some work done moved from un-capped to capped account.
This was to get some downloads done during the day.

Weekends it become unworkable.

1) Get hold of TelkomZA. Supply Tracert routes. Good and bad once.
2) Use twitter. Cant do much cant post a lot.
3) Use Telkom and e-mail tracert results.
4) Use Hello Peter.
5) Get escalation from Telkom
6) Port reset

All the best, took 4 months for Telkom to upgrade exchange perhaps it was on the books to be done.

Did anybody get SMS for his birthday from Telkom. I did.

Looks like you have some packet loss and high ping :/ I think the packet loss could be an issue - and it was present in the other test too :/

I guess reporting a line fault would be the next step :-( How does the account perform with a free account from Afrihost/Axxess/Webafrica?

Looking great! Basically, the the second line in the traceroute is most important to us, as it provides us info on the quality of the connection :)

Your international speeds are a bit slow, but it might be something else.

I think everything looks okay.
The international hops looks a little bit slow and that is reflected in your international 20MB dl as well, but I think there might be some pressure on your local IPC. It is only a guess though. AH will be able to tell.

Are you shaped according to your client zone?

Also if you don't have it, go to the AH website and get yourself a free unshaped 1GB capped account.
That is more likely to provide you with your actual line potential.
You can also acquire a free 1GB account from Web Africa.
They use a different backbone than AH and can help you in the future to decide if there is an ISP error.

Typically you would like to achieve 412 - 425KB/s download speed on a 4meg line.

Yes for a working week, it is way way better (capped account).

I think they underestimated the capacity needed - 20% is not enough except for weekends.
My http live streaming is stuttering and buffering again, but NOTHING like it was before.
Downloads fly tho, it's just the streaming, http and rtmp.

Sadly I'll probably still have to switch to VOX when I'm streaming since I hate it when it cuts out during a movie at exactly the most critical time which is what always happens of course!

Are you sure the local speedtest is running on http? Looked like an ftp request the last time I ran the tool...
