Help Pooky Make Money

damn pooky - there is your answer!

start a website displaying your skill! you can start a service where people send in a photo + deposit, you paint it, email them a sample, they pay the full amount and you then ship the original to them?
if they don't like it, they just lose a deposit and you get to cover your costs?

They are pretty dam good pookster... if I gave you a photo of my twins could you paint it ?

Most certainly, send me a PM.

That's actually a good idea....
Thanks.

That is actually a good idea...

Do you you a projector for those? What size do they work out to?

Otherwise, if you're handy with PCs, have a look at becoming a software tester. Easy enough to get into, for a pay hit for the first few months. From there, if you impress, you can grow a bit and go on some training at the company's expense.

Those are pretty good....

On another note - doesn't durbs have a sea-point? Apparently you can make a lot of money in these area's.

K pookster I will contact you on Monday have a photo in mind but its on my home laptop, I will be the "guinea pig"

how much will you charge pooky? i wouldn't mind a nice marvell character or something cool hehe

I believe painting PC cases would require airbrushing skills. I am pretty hopeless at graffitti type art and so I probably could not help you.

Here are a few of my paintings:

KK.

Well I will have to cover my costs depending on the size of the canvas and the amount of paint used, as well as time... I then also need to make a profit.

It will actually all depend on the size of the canvas so I can't really charge a flat rate.

Blocked here. Can you put them on MyBB?

Sure:

Bear in mind these paintings are all very big. I had to transport the match one in a bakkie as it was too wide for a car.

Pooky.
Those are good and I am sure that with the scale you paint in they would be quite impressive.

Have you contacted local galleries to exhibit or sell your art.
Another way to use the art is to contact local large companies (headoffices) and see if they want to commission art for their boardrooms or entrances.

Get your portfolio in order and try and use some "abstract" stuff as a basis with different variations.

Ask a stupid question >.<
You're obviously hugely talented there. Use that!
How long does it take you to do a painting, though?
The painting of portraits from photos is a good one. Everyone has a photo of themselves/other that they love, and it would be nice for them to have it made into a portrait.
That sorts out the money aspect.

Then, put together a portfolio and start attempting to exhibit your talent.

And if you're a good photographer, start using that too. Weddings. Just be cheaper than the competition. Do a few as freebies (charge for prints, though) so that you get a porfolio going. Then start charging out.

Holy crap pooky , you are amazing dude!! lol, wtf is wrong with you though? Why aren't you studying Fine Arts at UCT, Wits, Rodes???? I think you should try just making art and selling it to make money, but don't be stupid, STUDY ART AT UNIVERSITY!

The things I would do if I had talent like yours :(

Nice. Looks like you're pretty skilled & there is certainly $$$ potential in that.

Nonetheless you'll probably have to charge fairly little at first to get a client base & referrals going. (Skills aren't much use if nobody knows about them).

I think you've got a solid shot at making money from this.:)

That is usually built into the time charge (and sometimes materials charge) & not added separately for contract work.

@Spooky, those pics are very good, well done.
...
3. Offer to paint pictures/landscapes on people's house walls for a fee.
For free? - would Spooky be supplying the paint as well? - my perimeter walls need painting...
I like that Zuma pic, very cool
Just one problem though, the shower head is missing!

Andy Warhol version of the Zuma where JZ is white (not white people skin color - actual white) would sell lots. Galleries would take them from you and sell on consignment.

It depends on how much I work at it and the medium...
If it's acrylic and I work hard I can get it done in two-three days to maximum a week, and if it is oils it will take quite a while longer. Zuma was done in Oils and the rest were done in acrylic. I find painting bigger paintings easier.

All those paintings were done from photo's that I have taken save for the Zuma one, which was done from an election poster.

Wedding couple paintings. That would sell too.
