Huge A*ce Root in my backyard

It was obviously a root from the beginning, unless one is totally unfamiliar with roots.

I thought he was taking the piss. Looks so straight and uniform.

I managed to dig a few more feet but the rain is interfering.. its windy and a little chilly when the sun hides behind clouds

now that you mentioned, there is a tree stump in my yard, but its not that big, but the roots are definitely going towards it. Then there are two more trees in my yard, but it's one of those nice-smelling flowers but poisonous tree(dont know the name), not that big either. I will post pics tomorrow.

No but the tree is dying it seems.. or may be it's just shedding its leaves.
The middle tree in the pic I posted.

I am not done digging but I am going to remove whatever root I have dug up. I just bought a jigsaw, will remove the root atleast from the backyard portion and cover it up.
The remaining portion on the side will try to dig up as much as possible.

Have you found the end point? Where was this root going? That’s a lot of sap for a tree root.
You need to find out what type of root this is.
