Inbound Connections / Unrestricted APN (Now Testing!)

This probably shows how important this issue is that he broke his/her silence after 6yrs. I am amazed that technology companies can test something for so long. after 2 years one has probably forgotten how it works anymore.
This unrestricted apn and lack of overseas sms only roaming are serious limitation with cell c.

Cell-C are no longer accepting applications for the testing of this service. They are awaiting a decision from management on how to proceed.
 
Applied Today, looking forward to using this service.

My plan is to use my CellC (Nokia) USB 21mb/s modem in my PLANET 3G/WAN router to forward access to a Ubnt IP Camera on a building site...

If you want the unrestricted APN call 140 or visit the nearest Cell C shop where you will be given an application form. Return the form with a copy of your ID and you will soon have your APN
 
I applied for the unrestricted APN because I needed it for Tunngle (online gaming VPN service). Access has been granted and now its working so well! :) Thank you, Cell C!

I also applied. How do you know that its working? As far as I know you need to have your APN set to "Unrestricted".
Did they contact you or something?

Well the Cell C rep sent me the necessary forms, I filled them in, scanned them and sent them to the provided E-Mail address. The form said it will take 24 - 48Hrs to activate (if I remember correctly). I tried after 48 Hours, using the "unrestricted" APN and it worked (this was seen through Tunngle indicating port forwarding worked well).

Much easier in my opinion is to just get an afrihost sim. With these it is unrestricted and cheaper without all this hassle. I have no idea why cell c make one jump through hoops for this.

Didn't know Afrihost gives its mobile data users the unrestricted APN by default. I thought all the mobile operators give the usual "internet" APN

Yes it does appear to be as I can port forward on my routers without issue. 8ta sims are also unrestricted by default.
 
CellC unrestricted APN

I went through the process of requesting unrestricted APN for my CellC prepaid. Why it is not provisioned for by default I don't know. Anyway, the activated it but my router shows one IP address and my DDNS reports a different one. How can this be? It is still not working after numerous emails. Anyone had this issue before?
