Tools > Options > Advanced > Network Tab > Settings > Choose Manual Proxy Configuration > enter dsl-cache.saix.net 8080

That means you are not actually on the Telkom SAIX backbone. You must be on Internet Solutions or some other backbone.
Yes, I've noticed that international connections have suddenly slowed down again - most times not connecting, but telling me that "you're not connected to the internet" kind of crap. This began about two days ago...
I'm in the Durban area - any others around here experiencing S-L-O-W attempted connections, only to be told "not connected to the internet, etc..."

I would just like to inform that we have logged a request with SAIX to investigate the matter urgently.
I have also mentioned this on the Web Africa forums - http://forums.webafrica.co.za/_2341.html
As soon as we receive an update from SAIX I will update both threads with the information received.
