iPhone 5C is official

Watched the videos, they really need to change the formula of those videos, they are becoming cringe worthy.

3mins of of the 4min30 video just talking about the [-]plastic[/-] polycarbonate cover.
 
For the last few years Apple have offered their 1 year old phone at $99 (with 2 year contract), and their 2 year old phone for free. Instead of now offering the 5, they are offering the 5C. The 5C is essentially a 5, with a plastic coated steel back and a slightly bigger battery. The advantage for Apple is lower production costs and thus bigger margins. The 5 will go out of production, and the 4S will become the free option.
 
K I did not watch the keynote as they started to become meh for me now, but I have one,

Question:
Normally when Apple released a new model the older ones where bracketed downward, like last time 3GS went free with contract, replacing the 3G from that bracket and 4 went $99, 4S went $299 and so on. So what happens now with this old practice?

Or they now gonna stop selling old models?

Aaa was a couple of seconds late. So in essence the 5C is a screw over the people(Giving em plastic crap) and not really a new product?

Edit: Wait scratch that, the 5S is not even a new phone. Its the 5 with fingerprint reader + stronger CPU. http://www.apple.com/iphone/compare/

This is what I worry about. When the 5 came out prices shot upward by another 100/month for contracts if i remember right.. with the 5C.. knowing our telecoms companies i suspect current prices will get you the cheapo one and expect another 100 more for the more 5S. #telecoslogic
 
Jeeezuz, not even a bigger screen or anything. I do like the fingerprint reader idea on the 5S though.

Was watching some fanboys fawn over the keynote last night as the live streams came in, never really been a "iPhone crowd" basher but after seeing a bunch or techno-clueless hipsters on a supposed "tech" channel on Youtube crap their paints and analyze every single little detail of these "new" phones I have to say, I'm starting to understand where the Apple bashing stems from.
