Just got a call from sentech

haha, not a bad idea.

Btw, im not too familiar with Sentechs Flexi packages, so how bad/"good" are these?

What the cost and how does it work, top up and hardcapped?

MyWireless Flexi

Currently they are all 256kbps. 1/4 Iburst speed and considerably more expensive. And that R1 per MB for extra data is a shocker.

I also just got the call from some Sentech sales moron. I'm on the MyWireless 256K package and this was costing R699 per month for up to 20GB. They want me to go to the Flexi option where I can pay the same for 3GB and some ridiculous price per mb after that.

This must be making SA consumer history - an instant 85% reduction in quantity for the same price!!

I cancelled immediately - bye bye Sentech! I've been a customer since through thick and thin, since the service launched, but this is untenable. The only thing this unreliable, poorly coveraged, clunky service had going for it was the 20GB.

The real blame should actually lie with all the lemmings who happily and ignorantly signed up for the extortionate pay per mb schemes that the 3G cellphone providers and iBurst run - obviously Sentech realised that they were missing the gravy train and have now decided to rape consumers for bandwidth as much as Vodacom, MTN and iBurst are doing.

Got the call yesterday - asked for email. Hasn't come yet.

I've have Sentech Classic for my son - apparently he uses about 10G per month. So no saving for me on Flexi. In fact, quite the opposite :(

Based on a breakeven point of 2G on Classic vs Flexi, I wonder how many Classic customers will actually save money by changing to the Flexi package?

The look on my son's face when I told him his carefree broadband days might be over was a sight to behold.

Yep, cant event connect today invalid username/password - guess they guessed I would be cancelling anyway.

Hello Iburst G6 option

Bye bye custenna

Noswal, I called Nowire about todays diconnect and was advised that 'they' are doing 'general maintenance' and didn't count on all the towers going down :(

Same here, i am making long overdue payments to Telkom as we speak

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Been there and done that..

Thanks. Wow those prices suck. I though Ibursts extra bandwidth prices were bad, but atleast you dont even have to use that option.

If I was a Classic customer theres no way I'd pay R2800 for a new modem just to get moved down to those prices. And im forgetting that the speed is a quarter of Ibursts and that they seem to suck much more in terms of customer support, expasion etc.

FWIW last night the email I asked for (took 3 days to get to me) arrived saying:

Good Day ..
As per our telephonic conversation,
Please find your MyWireless Flexi Brochure attached. (Which is really just a reprint of the webpage)
Should you have any further queries concerning the products or the pricing thereof
Feel free to contact us here at the callcentre.
Kind regards.
...

so long, and thanks for the fish

read my comments on sentech and nowire that I have posted to the "canellation count" thread ... flexi was planned as a replacement package from the outset!

Just sent through the form to cancel 2 of my sentech 256 accounts, what a waste of money, unfortunately I signed for them just before iBurst came out and I learnt my lesson... I bought the iBurst modem, went month to month and have never looked back (besides an initial MTU problem but a little experimentation cleared that one up)

The only thing Sentech is good for in my mind is trickling down a large file, and even then you have to allow for a few days + drop outs ++++

The nightmare will be over soon.

Disgusting!!!

How can these idiots do this. Classic customers have been with them the longest. Now they just going to cut us off. Im off to telkom. Id rather give my money to the devil than Satan

"4. DURATION

This agreement shall commence on the date of activation of the services and shall continue for the initial period and thereafter indefinitely until terminated by either party giving 1 [one] months written notice to the other of termination of this agreement, provided that no such notice may be given during the initial period."

So, I will continue under the same "classic" terms and conditions I always have (no cap, etc), until such time as they give a month's written notice of termination, which they haven't done yet - only a phone call attempting to migrate me to the flexi package, which, in turn, they are not entitled to do.

Best I can tell (IANAL), the contract makes no provision for any automatic / forced cross-grades to new pricing packages. The closest they can get to anything like that is their 10% annual escallation allowed for in clause 13.2. Sure, they are entitiled to terminate the agreement, with proper notice, but they can't just switch it around as they please.

This puts the shoe nicely on the other foot... Now Sentech needs to decide if they would rather continue to have the montly annuity income from my contract, or the alternative, nothing at all. Surely, they worked out their initial package pricing to at least be profitable? If not wildly so, at least somewhat profitable? So, throwing away customer's in this fashion is not smart - some profit is better than no profit.

IMHO, Sentech must either put up (mass notice of cancellations) or shut up and quit trying to intimidate everyone into flexi packages. Until then, I'm going to carry on surfing - let them just try to bill me R1 per MB or anything funny. That battle they'll lose - with costs.

I don't think they really planned or really thought about this at all. They're just so smug and presumptuous that their customers will continue to put up with their bull even if they change things to our huge disadvantage.

I can tell you now their market research consisted of "Well, it's time to annoy them again. What shall we try this time? Oh yes! Let's rape their wallets and give them less, I bet they'll still stay. Boy were they wrong. Also, weren't all these changes supposed to make the network faster? It's running slower than it has since mid-2005!

Stupid morons. The lot of them.

We got our call this morning. The hubby told them we still have 18 months left on our contract and that's what we will stick to, tyvm. They said ok, bye. Will prob get another call frm someone sometime.
