keep e36 or buy i10?

I drive a turbo superboss.

I get to do these types of things though with the R200

Just showing us what a chop you are ;)

yeah the stalkers are not chops, but we will ignore that hey since you are the authoritative figure on all that is chop

...anyone found any evidence yet of me stealing from anyone, since people here so convinced I steal from people.

Yeah yeah ... I've always heard this argument to justify spending insane amounts on cars. We prefer to avoid getting into accidents and its worked so far.

And people in BMWs get killed when trucks hit their cars, and truckers get killed when space ships hit their truck ... blach ... blah

Nah, man. You can't decide when you get in an accident. And some cars simply are safer than others. Safety on cars is a hugely important thing to consider.

Don't bother that model, rather pay R20K more and get a 2012+ with 20-30K on the clock. I have the 2012 and there are some minor styling and comfort upgrades.

As for petrol consumption, well the car is light but it does not run on fumes. I get 15km/L on the open road, but 10-12km/L on short distances (eg going to the cafe).

I love the car and no regrets buying it but you are downgrading. And to drop R70K to save R100 a week on petrol is not always a wise move.

Sounds very heavy for i10 , you either drive with heavy foot or driving the auto model.

Even my atos does 18km/L combined.

R250K for a SUV is hardly "insane amounts". But it's your life and you put a price to it.
And if you believe it's up to you to avoid an accident you are going to be in for a surprise.

+1

My i10 1.25 glide doesn't shake that much when doing 160. Although I must say I only hit 160 once in a blue moon.

That was the camera, not the car. It was smooth all the way. It is the older 1.2 high spec GLS.

316i auto actually. Did some calcs on the interwebs: getting 9.67 L/100km with the e36 currently. Not as bad as I thought initially.

Keep the Bimmer.

I am getting 11/100km now in an 85 318i. self owned. No monies owed. New tires. I am set for 4 years before laying out any money again.

Correct, eventually it did wander closer to 180 but true max speed on the GPS was 174. Still considering this car is 4 years old and it is not the new Kappa II 1.25 with 64kw it is hard to fault it.

The i10's OBDII is compatible with all ELM327 adaptors so an app like DroidScan or Torque has loads of info about the car while it is running. I was surprised to see it even has an ambient temperature sensor although there is no display for it inside the car.
