SEACOM network disturbances due to ongoing SEA-ME-WE 4 repair work expected to be resolved today (28 April 2010). The latest notification received from SEA-ME-WE 4 indicates that the repair work on the SEA-ME-WE 4 cable is expected to be completed by 22.00 (UTC) on 28 April 2010. SEACOM will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

This came off the Seacom FaceBook page at around 10:05 am this morning (Wednesday 28 April).

We live in hope.

Meanwhile could people please post which specific ISPs are still experiencing complete international outage. It seems that Afrihost is one.

Anyone ISP that uses IS as their backbone is down. The only ISP's I know of who use IS are Afrihost and Openweb (I know there are more but can't think who).

Neotel is also having issues.

So guess Mweb and Axxess arent using the IS BackBone...Praise the lord!

ISP issues

I have a friend on @lantic as their ISP - and they have been down since Sunday - I am on NeoTel NeoFlex 5GB - and also having MAJOR issues with international access - although the myBB site is loading OK - so local seems to be unaffected!

Thank you Afrihost for sending me an SMS to let me know that there were further problems today. This allowed me to call home and walk my wife through configuring the proxy so that there is at least some connectivity (albeit slow).

+1 to you guys.

+100.

Agreed connectivity is painfully slow, but, unlike some other concerns, at least Afrihost has made an effort to keep us informed and even offered an alternative.

Your service is appreciated Guys.
