LCD and Plasma Bargains and Discussions thread

So I sent the Hisense back and rather went for the LG 55LB652T.

There was nothing wrong with the picture of the Hisense (was actually better than I thought it would be), it was the Active 3D gave my partner and kids a headache and that was the only reason I went for it was for the 3D. I know of a few people who don't mind the Active 3D, but didn't work for us.

This new TV is absolutely great tho. Only problem is the sound isn't the greatest but will buy a soundbar or something similar next month which will fix that problem.

Also looking for the best tv settings to calibrate the picture too.

Anyone know if the UA50HU7000 can use Bluetooth headphones? The sales person at DW says no, but I have read otherwise.

If so, then will the Polaroid ones on special at Game be any good (R290) ?

PS: I am using IR ones at the moment and there is a lot of static.

Hi everybody, I'm looking to buy a cheapish TV but I don't know enough to make a well informed choice. I'm looking to spend about R4000, and I want it to be 1080p. It would be great if it were around 40". For that money/resolution to I have any hope of getting a smart TV without the panel being very poor quality? Right now I'm weighing up this Hisense and this Telekunken. I'm also open to buying a non-smart TV and hooking it up to a Raspberry Pi or something similar (I only want internet access on the TV to stream sports). Thanks in advance for the advice.

So to the guys that bought the UA50HU7000, what do you think of it?

I currently have a UA48H5500 and am thinking of getting the UA50HU7000.

- Does it disort 720p or 1080p video?
- Any other issues you have picked up?

The upscaling is great. No issues for me (but then I haven't played with it much). I have watched a 1080p which looked great.

Hooked it up to the PC with an HDMI cable yesterday and that works well too. I can't get the entire taskbar to show on the bottom properly - it is getting cropped off. Will need to try to tweak something.....any ideas??

Had the same issue. Play with the Picture settings (picture size, especially) on the TV, that sorts it out (not at home now, so can't remember exactly where to look)

Currently have the UA46ES5600.This would be a decent upgrade - still suspicious that price is so low.

It's end of range..... New model is coming out. I did a Google search and noticed that they were selling at R25 grand at one stage.. someone said that dion wired had like 360 units all sold out on day one.
