How would one be able to tell? It's advertised as FHD on their catalog as well. Might go have a look this weekend if I'm bored. Bit wary of the JVC brand in SA though, but that price tag is really decent considering it's Smart with 3D as well, not that I'd use those features much.

You can take along a FHD background/picture on a flash drive (Google Images is your friend), you'll see if it's not FHD as the picture will be less crisp.

Good idea, but I'm used to LED screens, don't plasma's appear slightly less crisp in comparison? Albeit with better quality colors.

No such thing as an LED TV, yes LCDs do appear crisper up close, only because plasma's pixels 'buzz' which is noticeable up close. You'll still be able to tell, though.

Hehe yeah I know it's LED backlit/edgelit LCD screens, you get what I'm saying though. Thanks for your input Postman. Guess it wont hurt to go check it out if I find time. Will report back on my findings in case anyone else is interested.

Found some specs and it seems the resolution is indeed 1024 x 768. Lying bastards, and the advertise it as FHD. A turd it is then.

Thought so. A Samsung/LG would be similarly priced.

Nothing wrong with these once you're sitting 4m+ away.
 
Thinking about pulling the trigger on a LG 42LB652 to use primarily for gaming (Xbox One and Wii), streaming and watching downloaded content for my son. Viewing distance is 2-2,5m. Budget of R8k max.

Any comments or suggestions?

My main TV is Sammy 51e550 in my living room.

EDIT: I see that Makro is now selling the Samsung 48h5500 for R7 999. In now the input lag on game mode is quite good, but is worried about motion blur. Especially when playing games like Call of Duty.
