If it looks dull then it's been calibrated to ideal (dim) viewing conditions. Brightness, while preferable in unfavourable (bright) viewing conditions, lessens PQ.

If too dim, use Standard mode and take it from there to tweak to your liking.

I would question the IQ of someone that really wants to have an intelligent debate around an unsolicited swapping of appliances that are completely different in size, price and purpose. If I wanted the 60" plasma I would have bought it.

I never saw the original post, but my answer would be: Depends on which UHD LCD vs Plasma FullHD - it also depends on the size and whether or not you care about the price difference.

The sad fact is that plasma isn't going to be keeping up with LCD (in a commercial sense, production is dwindling and the new investment path is around OLED), so if future proofing your purchase is important to you then the UHD LCD would be the way to go - but there are some crappy sets out there, so choose wisely.

Hahahaha! Then I retract my statement. LOL.

Of course image quality comes into play - I just didn't elaborate on every point.

But image quality needs to be considered in tandem with motion control. My UHD screen has incredible image quality - I dare say better than the plasma it replaced - but it depends on the source and status of that image - for stills, or UHD footage, of course! But for a typical Blu-ray movie, it would be difficult to tell them apart - for any SD or 720p content or sports the plasma was much better. Again, I stress, I'm referring to the 64F8500, not the 60H5000 - I never said that any plasma is better than LCD.
 
Hi guys.
I bought a Sinotec 50" UHD from Makro (online). It was delivered yesterday afternoon and I obviously played around with it last night.
I don't know, I'm not as thrilled with it as I imagined I would be.
Does anyone know if Makro will allow me to return it in exchange for a different Brand ?

I have it hooked up to my PC, and in Full screen mode, there's some weird "refresh" every now and then. The movies I play on the pc also have time sync issues between words spoken and actually hearing the words. Also, when using the built in player on the TV, none of my mkv movies has any sound.

Not a "settings issue"? If not - fingers crossed Makro will assist. If the packaging is immaculate and you didn't rip the plastic and fragile packing and you're going to still support them by buying a more expensive brand... perhaps they will.

Try using a "PC mode".

Regarding the sound, you won't be able to sort that out. Try updating the TV firmware.
 
This is one of the issues with non branded TVs. There is zero information about them online. Google any Samsung, LG, Sony, Panasonic etc. model, and you're bound to get info.

@ Synergy, I tried the "PC Mode", but it looks like that wants to only use the TV's vga connector. I don't see any settings where I can set the HDMI to use "PC Mode" like what I can do with my Samsung D550. Regarding the Sound, I tried to let the TV look for online updates, but it didn't find anything. I will send Sinoprima an email and query this.

My mother's 5 year old 32" Sammy can play MKVs. That's insane. Try renaming the file extension to .MP4. That worked on my old media player.
