What are you using it for?
Do you know about LED-LCD uneven lighting/sun spots? In light of this, I'd stick to conventional CCFL-LCD as they suffer less from uneven lighting (or plasma, depending on your usage, where you can get a 51" FHD 3D plasma for R9,999).

R9,999 PS51D550 FHD 3D plasma would be first choice, depending on lighting in your room. Bright rooms are a no go.
±R8,999 LA46D550 FHD LCD would be second choice, if your room is bright.

Price is good till this Wednesday, 31 August, IIRC.
Wish they would print the model number or get the specs right!!
And actually having a higher res copy of the pages uploaded wouldnt be a bad idea either. I'm sure it won't hurt most ppl to download a jpg larger than 165kb *sigh* Can't even read the specs on here even if they were right!

The Samsung South Africa website doesn't even feature the LA40D503. Game and Makro have been trying to flog that particular model for quite some time now. I was in Game N1 City on Friday night, and LA40D550 is still going for R5699 at Game.
Something interesting though is Makro's new promotion:
LA46D550 - R6999
This is an awesome deal!! Perhaps this will bring the price of the 40" baby brother down too. Plus, what'll Game do now with their whole "we'll beat the price" policy? We'll have to see when their promotions come out tomorrow

I can confirm that the Game special was NOT for the LA40D550, LA40C530 or C550, it was definitely for the LA40D503, saw it at Game in Fourways on Saturday.

Looks like the stripped down base 5 series LCD. Only 1 HDMI and seems media player dont do video, only photo+music. Well worth the few hundred bucks extra to get the D550.
