When you have any budget whatsoever? :D

Anything (bar ShoX) is better than speakers in most TVs, so even that R999 jobbie would be a good value upgrade.

I've found Dion Wired to have decent audio equipment in a mass mart format.

Ultimately you want a HDMI AV receiver/amplifier and some decent surround speakers.
 
Cool. No not really just want to get the best bang for buck so when I start my blueray collection my tv is up to the task
 
I see it's "promote Hisense and LOGIK" week at Game. And some Sony TVs. What is the difference in quality going to be if u put a Sony, Hisense, Samsung and LG all next to each other? I'm thinking 40" FHD LCD. Any takers? Is it difficult to comment on without specific models in mind? I see the Hisense LED in 40" is only R4999. LCD is R3999.

Difference will be very little with HD content under bright shop lighting, however once calibrated properly and in a proper TV room branded sets will win. Largely due to the fact they have better panels with better internals and better, more adjustable menus/settings.

Branded sets should win at SD content in store.

Why LED-LCD I wonder? LCD is better.

Plus Samsung LA40D550 is around R4,999.

Friend got a Sinotech 46" LCD today for R4,999.

Ended on Sunday. My dad wanted to get one but they were sold out. Got a ticket so he will still get it at that price when they get stock.
