FLIPPIN excellent price.
Yeah good price, also worth checking out LG's 2011 equiv the 47LK530 which is 100/120Hz (Samsung no longer in 100Hz+ LCD business) and can be picked up for R7699, hence my question above.

My real interest is in the 55LK530 which can be picked up for R16999, only darn big 100Hz LCD left on the market.

Its not bad at all if you play with the tv a bit.... and at R6999 that price is pretty bloody amazing.

Game has this TV for R10999. If they stick to their price-matching policy they'll even give you a discount of 10% of the difference between their price and the bargain price.

In this case you can get the 46" LCD for R6600!!!

Are you sure you're not thinking of the LED-LCD flavour (UA46xxx)?

Pretty sure the 46" 5 Series LCD (LA46D550) is around R7,999 at Game?

But is the 50Hz a deal breaker? Is it only bad in games and sport?

I would say yes, although it might not be too bad for you. Entry plasma also have 50Hz engines, but are still better at motion handling.

At a budget of R7,000, and you need motion, 50" plasma would be better, although lower res.

If you need 1080p, i.e. a lot of your media is 1080p, you would probably want the LCD.

I can't handle 50Hz LCDs, especially since HD DSTV (specifically Supersport as I'm a sports fanatic) is 1080i (interlaced, 540 vertical lines are basically duplicated by the processing engine) - this adds a lot of noticeable motion judder which plasma handles better, even though it would be 720p.

Mid-high end LCDs with 100Hz have much better processing engines (as well as blacks and colours on par with entry plasma).

Thanks for info Postman. Will mainly be used for watching SD/720p content and some gaming. maybe a bit of social browsing if i can get it going.

Same.

R4,499 - R4,999 Samsung PS43D450 43" 720p HD Ready 1024x768 (best for SD / SD/HD mix)
R6,500 - R6,999 PS51D450 51" 720p HD Ready 1366x768

Careful with that R6999 on the 46D550, it usually looks like the 46D550 but it's actually the 46C530, last year's model.

They tried that on me at Dionwired, and I took the D550 @ R7999 with a 3 year warranty.

I need a TV which is less than 32" so either a 26" or 24". Any idea where would be the best price & quality?!?

Cheap - Hisense
Bit more - Samsung

Both have 26".

Pity you need less than 32", Samsung LA32D550 32" FHD LCD at R3,500 (or less) is a steal.
