Dubious.... Why would Hifi corp be placing an ad in the Junkmail? And why would they leave a cell number and not the store number? Maybe the salesman is after the commission but still, at that price there's no need to advertise... And that's not hifi corps policy...

Hi there. Looking for a 32" or smaller for R3000 or less. HDMI, HD Ready at least and preferably USB. Anything in CPT?
 
I think it'll be between a Samsung 32" HD Ready or Hisense 32" FHD.

Otherwise try stretch budget to Samsung 32" FHD (LA32D550).

Nice TV but not worth it without warranty in my opinion. Could lead to friendly feuds. ;)

As said, you could get a 51" Samsung plasma or 42" LG 100Hz LCD, both new with warranty.

The Hisense screens decent? Got someone selling a Sony Klv-32bx300 for R2900, 11 months old. Got limited USB video playback thogh. Which Samsung and Hisense should I be looking at?
 
Also see a lot of HD Ready TVS with resolutions of 1366x768. Should I avoid those?

Hisense are generally the better of the cheapie brands.

11 months old 32BX300 for R2,900 is a rip, stay away.

Samsung is the LA32D550, R3,500 - R4,000, the only 32" LCD to consider at the moment if you ask me. Also, like the LG's and perhaps Sony's, its USB port plays HD files.

If you don't need Full HD (i.e. you don't have a large collection of Blu-rays, or use it for FHD PC use, etc.), or you sit far from the TV then there is nothing wrong with HD Ready. In fact it may even handle SD/normal TV better.

What do you need the TV for?
 
Shouldn't the resolution be 1280x720 for HD Ready? The TV will seldomly be used for DSTV, mainly for plugging in PC via HDMI to watch downloaded rips (all quality, full hd dont really care). However would prefer to have USB for plugging in a hard drive (so I can use laptop and watch stuff at the same time)
 
And I'm not in a huge rush, don't want to spend more than 3k. Willing to wait for something to pop up. But something that's HD Ready, HDMI and can play divx etc off USB under R3000 would be PERFECT.

Yes, that's the true 720p resolution, however any 1024x768 wide, 1280x720, 1366x768 TVs are 720p TVs, as they are either 720 or more vertical lines.

Sounds like you should go with the Samsung LA32D550, as per my existing advice.
