Yes, that's the true 720p resolution, however any 1024x768 wide, 1280x720, 1366x768 TVs are 720p TVs, as they are either 720 or more vertical lines.

Sounds like you should go with the Samsung LA32D550, as per my existing advice.

Thanks. Will go look at some shops later. However the LA32D550 is R3899 at HifiCorp so out of my price range!

That is a good price. Compare to Game, if Game are more expensive then they will beat Hifi Corp's price by 10% of the difference in price.

Also remember the same TV last year (C range) was at least R4,500 - shows how prices have really dropped on branded sets. This makes the cheapie brands less value for money.

Honestly, I wouldn't settle for anything less. Save a bit longer, will be worth it.

Not really looking to spend over 3k, that's why I might go second hand. Got too many other things to buy!

And I'm not in a huge rush, don't want to spend more than 3k. Willing to wait for something to pop up. But something that's HD Ready, HDMI and can play divx etc off USB under R3000 would be PERFECT.

A little over your price range though I saw game has a Logic plasma 42 inch FHD for about R3699 (a little over your price but the cheapest 42 inch FHD i have seen in a while) it has 3 HDMI's and a usb, although i am not sure if the usb plays divx though

I can't argue against budget. If you're tight you're tight. However I can spend hours explaining to you why it will be truly beneficial spending the extra. Remember, it will also be better for the future.

Really FHD?

Pity it's Logik. I wish Samsung/LG would bring cheap 42" plasmas to the market.

42" is no use anyways, got a TV cabinet that will prob only fit 32". Need to actually measure and check if 32" will even fit...

you remind me of my aunt cut the cabinet man :)
lets see why not do this I know makro has a samsung bluray on special for R850 (bd 5100 is the code i thnk) it plays prety much all formats and can pick up USB HDD formated in fat32 and NTFS too (trust me its a bigie that it can pick up ntfs) then game has a 24 inch jvc fhd for R2000 or sinotec 24 inch fhd for 1699 so either of those with the Blu ray you under budget or they have a 32 inch sinotec (hd ready though) for R2600 with the blu ray you a little over budget

Yes this is my alternative option. Something like this. However I wouldn't get a Bluray player, rather a media box of some sort (I have an account with most suppliers)

Measured the cabinet now, ~83.5cm width so most if not all 32" LCD TVs should fit

Does anybody know if there any cellphone contract deals with free LCD's?

I know there was a special @ vodacom world which ended on 6 September that had a 32'' LCD TV which one of the contracts - but that's over now :(

Go look at mtn website they seem to have a few.

Goddamn, LA32D550 is tempting but I really don't want to spend that much (especially with little income atm!). Lasted quite long watching things on my laptop hehe

If you're willing, able and happy to spend 3k but can't spend 3.5k which really isn't that much more you maybe shouldn't spend the money at all, just a thought... Apart, a cheapo Hisense/Logik/whateverelsenonameTVthere for 3k is not worth it. Go for quality and wait for the D550 or similar to be on special again for 3.5k or 3.3k.
