LCD and Plasma Bargains

I got their detail from Vottle ad with good pricing on LED screens and also listed on their crappy website:

Also emailed TMC TRADING <[email protected]> and got reply from Ibrahim with bargains like:
Samsung UA46D6000 46" 3D LED TV including 3D glasses: R8609.00
Samsung UA46C7000 46" 3D LED TV including 3D glasses: R11,355.00

Is this for real? if it's to good to be true it's probably not :)

No reputable company will use a gmail address.
Unless you are planning to collect directly from them and verify that it is the correct product then stay away!

Lol. Entry level plasma > entry level LCD, especially cheapo brands with worse image processing.

The improvement would still have been huge if it was compared against an entry branded LCD, e.g. Samsung LA40C530. New D Series plasma is extremely good.
 
Oh and dealer pricing from say Pinnacle/Frontosa/Rectron/Sahara etc. is much more than for Game/Makro/Tafelberg etc. and their dealer price will appear like retail price.
 
Has anyone got/tried a sony KDL-40CX520?
Was looking for a 40/42 LCD on nivo and from the 40bx400 it's about 200 more to get the 40ex400, and then about 200 more for the 40cx520. Comparing the ex400 and the cx520 on the sony site the cx520 seems WELL worth the extra few bucks...

That depends what it's for? Like for using as a PC monitor it might not be worth the extra.

Sorry I don't have the Samsung agents pricing but from a grey importer I know they're a little under R9000 landed with the duties and VAT paid but I'm not sure what USD-ZAR rate was used as most bump it up to try and protect themselves against currency fluctuations.

Those aren't the wholesale prices since I just paid R10200 for a 51D550 retail and they have it down as R11300 wholesale.

Yeah and then with high volume stores like Makro/Game/Tafelberg/Cats etc. they can negotiate lower prices for bulk buying. Where your normal suppliers like Pinnacle/Frontosa/Rectron/Sahara sell a lot less quantity and so pay a higher dealer price, which is why their prices are a lot higher than the likes of the previously mentioned stores.

Thats what I thought. I was quoted R10,700 and was hoping to get it better than that. R10,200 is a good price then, where did you get it from?

Um... as a tv... At this point SD/SABC and my mede8er. Will move the ps40c430 to the lounge where the background is darker because in the bedroom where it is at the moment the bedside light at night and the 2 small windows beside the bed reflect on the glass.
I think the looks of the set itself is worth the R400 or so over the bx400.

Fair enough. The EX400 is said to be one of the better entry level LCDs, just make sure the screen is matte as you may end up with the same problem.

If you want the same/better SD/Mede8er quality that you're used to, then perhaps you want to check out the new D450 43" plasma as it has a better anti-reflective coating than the C430 (same as the C450).

Where did you find it for R10200? I'm considering buying it end of the month.
Also could someone tell me what's the difference between the PN51D550 and the PS51D550, I'm assuming it's only the region, i.e EU and USA etc.

I got it through a friend of a friend who has a household wholesale business. For a purely retail place the electronic shop in Oriental plaza offered it to me for 10500.

Thank you, I don't mean to hijack, but thought a new thread was unnecessary, when looking for it should I be looking for PS or PN.

The EX400 does have a matte screen
