Massive Hamburgers

My mince didn't defrost in time, so I'm making this today. I'll try out this recipe and let you know how it went.

Ok perfect! I actually had it at my friends house in Joburg when I was there - it was lovely so I bought the spices and stuff and made my own - delicious!!

I hate big burgers; if the patty is thicker than my fingers I'm likely not going to enjoy eating it.

I guess I'm just not big on mince.

I have to say this is the BEST BEST burger I have eaten! Royal Eatery and Hudsons (My favourite) does not come close! I had the mushroom burger, with chips. Their chips is the BEST its home made chips (not the frozen ones) and it tastes even better than my home made ones. Honestly if you live in Cape Town you have to try it!!

They are in that craft / food market at the Waterfront, it used to be that big CD Warehouse that has been converted into like a food market - well worth a visit!

Went there earlier in the week and they weren't taking orders they were so busy

I had a look though and the burgers I saw didn't look so amazing? The rolls were the standard small sasko ones (in sasko packet still) and the patties looked like picknpay or spar patties... Judging from the queues they must be heavenly though

Right, now I can tick off Sticky Fingers BBQ's Monster Burger from my list :)

The place itself, like every other place in observatory, tries to tie into the whole hip and happening vibe whilst set in an almost derelict setting. The burger wasn't bad, extremely filling (probably should have taken a doggy bag) and has me satisfied. However, I won't be going back for more, it's just one of those things you have to try at least once.

Been there plenty times. Their food is great yes, although their chicken wings and burgers have shrunk quite a bit in size recently. Nothing beats their ribs though.

If you're on about Hudson's - then I'm in agreement since 2012.

They "Oversell" and "Under Deliver" - bland, tasteless and pricy.
Had the ostrich burger, meat wasn't seasoned well - overkill on the avo, the bun was stale from standing all day (and really - Sasko Sam rolls on R80 burgers? - Bake your own)
Onion rings are all batter - as were the Jalepeno Poppers - but the blue cheese sauce was nice.

My date also wasn't impressed with her meal - so not going back there.

Hudsons are great, I went there often when I worked in Greenpoint, not massive burgers but delicious and the best part is the option for healthier buns and sweet potatoes. It's always packed full of regulars, people go there for the vibe and to get drunk.

In normally use mince only, but also try the following:

1kg Mince
Finely grated fresh ginger. about table spoon
kikkoman (sushi) soy: table spoon or tad more
freshly fine chopped spring onions

mix & rest

make into patties.

the ginger and soy goes very well together
