Does this mean that my line supports 8mbps ?

Just wondering, as it's what I saw in my Routers Internet Status panel...

U mean downstream. Yes its supports 8Mbits, thats what i have

Whats your downsteam one then?

Because dam uploading at 8meg I so wish

It could be a bug in the router software that reports it as upstream rather than downstream

It just means 'error' in the ADSL modem software.

If you read the Wikipedia entry for G.Dmt, it explains very carefully how 8192kbps is the maximum downstream speed (the maximum upstream is typically 1/10th of this speed).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G.DMT

Mode: ADSL_G.dmt
Traffic Type: ATM
Status: Up
Link Power State: L0

Downstream Upstream
Line Coding(Trellis): On On
SNR Margin (0.1 dB): 303 270
Attenuation (0.1 dB): 80 35
Output Power (0.1 dBm): 72 122
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 12128 1236

8 meg is just his max for his line :P, but you right about the error on his line for that module and upstream being 1/10

All this means is that it seems you're syncing at G.DMT (which can't exceed 8Mbps downstream), and also that your line should be capable of at least 8Mbps, WHEN telkom finally decides to upgrade your exchange (and the rest of us) to 10Mbps... oh, and it probably also means you have a Siemens Gigaset 762sx... because it's the only modem I know that mixes up the rate on the web UI, showing 8128 as the max UPSTREAM when it should be DOWNSTREAM. But if you view the page source u can find more stats, which are accurate.

Think I just saw the bug. It's at the bottom right of korn101's router status page. :p

G.DMT's maximum supported downstream speed is 12Mbps, by the way.

10mbps is just a marketing term to market 8mbps.
