Mind the speed ISP

International streams slow after this weekends outage on MFN. Might be related. Not sure why MTS default DNS not coming up on the top when running a scan.

Try dropping your MTU (try 1480, 1460, 1440) until you find one that works. Seeing this across the board with many ISPs - looks like MFN forgot to configure these settings on the replacement switches.

Hey. That didnt make a difference. im testing streams to Hetzner Europe. If i try MTN for example, it works, with fibre it doesnt load. Youtube working fine though

I'm not sure if I should switch to another ISP and whether my CSGO packet loss is due to MTS or something on Vumatel fibre. Like it is quite annoying playing with a packet loss ranging between 0 - 4%.

Both SADV and MTS said everything is fine and I'm not sure what else to do besides moving to another ISP.

For example my traceroute to CSGO server 155.133.238.162:
Code:
 # ADDRESS LOSS SENT LAST AVG BEST WORST STD-DEV STATUS
 1 192.145.130.2 0% 730 13.6ms 3.1 1.7 52.2 4
 2 197.148.68.4 0% 730 5ms 3 1.9 65.2 3
 3 197.148.71.5 0% 730 24ms 24.9 23.1 80.7 4.8
 4 196.60.9.22 0% 730 32.9ms 24.1 20.4 112.7 9.8
 5 100% 730 timeout
 6 155.133.238.162 0% 730 21.2ms 22.3 20.1 57.1 4.3
I really don't like the high latencies in the WORSE or the high variation in STD-DEV.

Other than the issue with CSGO packetloss, I am fairly happy.

So i ran a tracert on my network to CSOG. Im running MTS and Metro. Also note that im running this tracert on my wireless network. Latencies are far better than yours. This should now confirm that MTS is fine and points more towards SADV?

@Bionic , but I'd guess that you are in Gauteng with those kind of latencies and not in Cape Town, which could explain the difference in latencies.

Hmm, so tonight my packetloss is extremely bad, ranging between 6 - 18%:

Speedtest.net results are fine though, where I am getting very close to my 50/50Mbps, even to a server in Pretoria.

Your packet loss is happening in your fibre network and carrying through. This is not your ISP at fault but your fibre provider

Jip. That heavy packetloss was with the fibre provider (Vumatel), since this is what MTS support replied with on that particular issue:
Vumatel has since done an ONT reset and the line re-provisioned

I am still not sure what to make of the 0-2% packetloss that I'm having when I'm playing on CSGO servers that are in Gauteng region, since I can't say for sure if the issue is with MTS or whether its with Vumatel.
Like my parents are like 500m away from me on Cell C via Vumatel and they don't have high variance in their traceroute latencies like I have (they have a different ONT device, but same Mikrotik router that I have).

Try do an IPERF test this will show you packet loss on your line if thats 0 then could be the ISP or the actual server being played on. I don't play CS often but i normally have no packet loss and i am Vuma trenched CPT

Hmm. I'll just then have to wait and see when I'm on another ISP from 1 Nov, since I've now requested to cancel my MTS account.

MTS did sort out quite a few peering issues with local ISPs (eg. Seacom & Work Online) since I joined them back in March, and their Support is generally quite quick.

Want to give credit where credit is due.
Moved at the beginning of September, new place had Vuma Fibre. Previous owners already had the line installed so I just needed to take it over and they luckily cancelled their line so that it stops at the end of August. Decided to give mind the speed a try. Organised the migration with them in August, was able to choose my own router that they subsidised with R862, they source the router you want and deliver it to you. On 1 September when I moved in, all went without a hitch, fibre line went active and was connected without me having to do anything except connect the new router. Very smooth migration.

Anyone else experiencing international latency issues of late? I'm with MTS on Vumatel in Cape Town.

Apex to London is usually like 160ms and it's at 370 right now.

@Bl1zz4rd , I'm getting like 100ms latency from Stellenbosch to 1.1.1.1 (and also to the CSGO servers) at 20:50 tonight:

Also the Standard Deviation is insane, meaning it fluctuates like crazy.

I think my issue is different than yours, since yours may be related to this WACS issue that is on MTS' status page:

I am going to log a support case now about it.

Thanks so much! I couldn't find anything relevant on the MTS site earlier. Hope you get support for your issue!

Hi All.

Quick rant on my side, as it seems the issue is sitting with MFN but MTS just cannot get it solved.

I have constant disconnects, ranging from 1-20 times a day which is only resolved with a PPPOE redial. Typically when I am gaming or in a zoom meeting as always... This is in Centurion. MTS mentioned earlier that there were other people complaining about this as well? Specifically in Montana. Anyone else can confirm they are seeing the same?
