When you think of summer, you probably get filled with a sense of excitement. It’s the perfect time of the year to share moments with friends and family. It’s also the time of year when things normally start to ease up a bit, especially if you’re still in school and getting ready for an unforgettable summer holiday! This also means you have more time for surfing the web and connecting with your social world! And to make sure you can make the most of your extra surfing time, MTN is giving you some well-deserved free internet access! To make sure you enjoy your summer surfing to the fullest, you’ll receive 50% additional internet access, every time you buy a new Internet bundle. For example, if you recharge with 10MB of internet, you’ll receive an additional 5MB of internet access absolutely free of charge!

Here’s a breakdown of the amount of free internet access you will receive, depending on your bundle recharge value. The table also shows you how long your extra internet access will be valid for:

So in short, you’ll get more opportunities to do the things you love, at no extra cost! This means more time chatting with your friends on Whatsapp, checking the latest fashion trends online, watching your favourite music video on YouTube and much, much more! We can’t imagine a summer without surfing, which is why we want to make sure you don’t have to either! The offer is valid from the 16th of October 2013 until 31st January 2014. Terms and conditions apply.

30MB: R10. Previously 20MB. 10MB valid for 1 day.
150MB: R29. Previously 100MB. 40MB valid for 3 days.
450MB: R79. Previously 300MB. 150MB valid for 5 days.
750MB: R99. Previously 500MB. 250MB valid for 5 days.
1.5GB: R149. Previously 1GB. 500MB valid for 7 days.
3GB: R245. Previously 2GB. 500MB valid for 7 days.

Cons: Expensive.
Pros: 60 days.

MTN are just backwards.
- Afrihost Mobile (MTN): Just got a 3GB top up for R99. Being on a 10GB R197 product.
- Telkom Mobile: sells 3GB for R150.
- Cell C: 1.2GB for R89. 2.4GB for R189.
- Vodacom: No data.

Btw when did MTN cut their data prices? The last time I checked their smallest bundle was 10MB at R10

The time frame in which to use this "free" internet is pathetic, got 500mb free today. I hope it doesn't work the same way their "free" airtime did a few months back. I topped up my airtime, received my half extra for free, made a few calls thinking I was using free airtime. When the free airtime expired after a few days my balance dropped by the full free amount. so it seemed that you had to use up all your airtime before you could access the free part.

The Afrihost data deals have a lot to do from MTN Wholesale getting their product out there. It's not all as it appears to be.
