MTN Uncapped Lite for R299

interestingly enough, i'm getting good speeds on most websites, speedtest.net reports a download speed of between 4 and 5 mbps but i can't watch a 240p youtube video without it buffering every 5 seconds.

Those are nice speedtest results what speeds are you getting when downloading? Could you please let us know? Also which area are you located.

I'm getting download speeds of around 300KB/s, I'm in Benoni North, a few months ago i was getting 900KB/s downloading files.

Wow are u been throttled.My speeds super low and i got a signal strength of 99%<throttled>.
 
Its been one one month and a day since I got it. The first three days I got 4 - 6Mbps, then it dropped to 0.2Mbps (fair use, I most likely chewed 3gig updating all my PCs). I've been eagerly awaiting my "recharge" after a month, which is today if I'm not mistaken. Guess what:



WTF? Only 0.4Mbps...my mate returned from a month in Africa, only to find he is getting 0.2Mbps.

I'm seriously disappointed.
 
Updates only on the 13th of each month as far as I am aware.
Also not getting the best speeds today.

Thanks, that's good to know...you told me now what I could not get out of MTN after an hour on the phone.
 
Wow, I thought it recharges on the 1st or so of each month, but it does seem to be the 13th. I was looking at vids and bam, speed just went nuts!



Then I did the speed test and damn near got me a heart attack lol. I'm so happy right now :D

So this is weird, my speed is throttled again. My download speed is 13kbps ... Last night I just tested the speed and used at least 40mbs, no where near 3gigs. Does one even get notified somehow that your 3gigs get recharged?

Will try. Will mostly do gaming. Installing BF3 with patches that a friend is giving me cause the downloads is big. Will try to keep downloading to a minimum!

No, do not.If it is unusable after 3GB's then it is not uncapped.Then you should raise hell with MTN
I kill my 3GB n about 1 day
 
Yes I have mtn uncapped lite
After 3GB's I'm throttled to +-40 kiloBytes per sec, which is fine for web browsing etc.
I download all my youtube vids, and then watch them so I don't notice buffering.
We do this on principle because it saves the other okes in the office also having to stream the vid if it is interesting.
Torrents are throttled to death, so I stick to newsservers
