MTN Uncapped Lite for R299

Ha, ha, ha, That is awesome, My speed finally went up to normal, 15,5 MB/S. Literally, 1 minute after writing my previous post, the speed kicked in. Sheesh I wish someone at MTN would tell me what the issues are every single month so in future I don't have to give myself a freakin nervous breakdown and loose thousands just because of data speed. Oh well, let this be a lesson to everyone, DO NOT GET MTN UNCAPPED LITE. I am going to give this modem to a charity and go with some other network. Seems the best at the moment in terms of speed and price is Vodacom. Awesome y'all, I will still be taking this to ICASA, so as to also take a stand for thsoe that do not know how to wage war to get what they signed for.

Post an image please!!!

Yeh sure, this time I got a little less but it is fluctuating....

Strange, I went on to MTN active and suddenly it appears I have purchased a 1GB adhoc Bundle. Maybe that is why my speed is going balistic, the money eating monster is being fed. I have no clue what is going on anymore, MTN, you guys are more confused than a fart in a tornado. This is completely shocking. Now, I got a good question, because I now have a 1GB adhoc bundle, does my Uncapped lite contract/billing fall away? Or will I now be charged for the uncapped bundle and the adhoc bundle? My goodness, such incompetence I have only seen from Mugabe in Zimbabwe after his wife went shopping in Paris. Oh well, I suppose they can only con me until my contract is up. I am going to need to see the psychologist after this stressful experience. Is it so difficult to just make things work as promised? Good Night all, here's to the nightmares of my usb modem turning into a vampire from Twilight and sucking my blood/wallet dry.

That is great news...hope it stays that way!!!:D Well, my speed went up like about 5kbps more...:wtf: soooo i'm still waiting...My signal strenght is 99%....still I can't complain...but would be nice if they would reset my cap! So, now we have to remember that on the 16th of every month they reset your cap. Happy surfing/working! :D:D:D

Naa my cap was not reset, I see all of a sudden there is a 1gb bolt on data bundle and I received an sms saying that 'I' have successfully loaded a bolt on data bundle. This is so strange because when I called the call center the lady there said I could not buy a bolt on data bundle when I was on the Uncapped Lite package, in order to increase my speed. So, my bundle has been NOT been reset and now I am being charged for a bolt on bundle(R289) that I had no idea I bought. Something is wacky here and it makes me worried because all my account information is with them. How can I trust my account info will be safe if they cannot even control their own policies and sales? I am going to go in to one of their head offices today and sort this mess out. I do not have time for this nonsense!!!!! And to make a bad situation even worse I have still not received a call back after lodging 4 complaints, just another copy paste email saying that I am a valued customer and they will get back to me as soon as possible. Yeh rite, now that they got my money I do not matter anymore.

The funniest is if you read the contract amendments, after ICASA implemented the consumer protection bill, MTN had to add a few clauses within their contract rules and regulations. The funniest is, they have simply taken the ICASA stipulations, wrote them down and then used their own terminology to basically make the consumer protection act, void, while still showing it within their contract and making it seem as if they are abiding by it. Take a look, you will see the cleverly worded documentation that basically uses semantics to make your rites as a consumer, null and void. So, this is what you need to read when seeing those MTN contracts, "We at MTN and their subsequent partners, can do what we want, when we want, you will still be liable to pay the full amount regardless of our quality or availability of our services, We at MTN reserve the rite to not give you service at all, and if this happens, you can do what you like, but wills till have to pay the full amount, even if you can prove we did not deliver the service sold to you.l And furthermore, we at MTN do not care, once you sign this contract, you can kiss all the promises we made to you, goodbye." So yeh, that is basically what the contract means in normal language. There is literally bugger all you or I or anyone else can do once we sign that contract, it is, unfortunately, binding. I personally will never, ever deal with MTN ever again and everwhere I go I will tell everyone I know or meet about MTN and how they screw you over without a second thought. Shocking and disgusting MTN, but you know what, you WILL get what you deserve, I just feel sorry for all those poor people who work for you and rely on your structure to do their jobs. You as a company, your directors, on holiday in france, I could care less about, you are worse than a bank robber. At least a bank robber looks you in the eye when he takes your money. You, hide behind clauses like cowards and then do not give the service promised. And do not tell me I am talking nonsense, I have Proof, recorded and time stamped proof, including copies of all the correspondence from me to you. Maybe I have no leg to stand on because of the biased contractual agreement, but I will tel you now, there are many ways to skin a cat. Carry on MTN, your days are numbered. Good day to all the awesome people of this forum, sorry you had to accompany me on my nightmare. That is it from me as far as this goes. Keep well and keep pushing ahead, no matter how big the challenge or the corporation, only together can we make a difference. Keep well all and God Bless.

Oh no, that is seriously bad! Get all your evidence/doc etc. Make copies, get it certify and then do the legal stuff. They are screwing with everyone. Past experience...don't do business with MTN, but the uncapped deal looked so amazing, and I couldn't resist. They were nice up to the time I signed the contract...So I just hope I don't get screwed over again. Haven't had any problems yet, except waiting for the cap to reset. And I am happy with the product. Let me know what happens...and I hope that it gets sorted out soon.

Awesome, my uncapped data 'Provisioning' was reset today. What a mission but now the speeds are super again. Strange thing, hit the lotto yesterday so I got a Virgin sim card and lots of Rands of data. Man, expensive as heck, Virgin, but faster than anything around, 23.4Mb/s. Thanks for the flippen awful times MTN, sorry for you, I will be changing to Virgin permanently, you see, if you ahd just ensured you adhered to the contract or even that you got someone to contact me expediently, I could have been giving you lots and lots of that stuff we call 'money'. It seems my world has finally turned around for the good, amazing what prayer, sacrifice, love, honor and human decency can do. God Bless all and thanks for the replies and listening to my complaints.

I had the same problems, MTN not reseting my cap or when i get it my speed increasing by 10kbs or so. thing that pissed me off is that i know 3 seperate guys who have the same uncapped lite that dont get capped at all, one guy didnt even know there was a cap??!

Anyhow back on subject, i've come to terms with the fact that this uncapped deal is not for gaming, mostly sux for browsing (from my experience) but for R300 a month I still get my money's worth, I now use it only for torrents on a spare laptop at home, I do about 20gb-50gb worth of series/movies a month

Lol I didn't want to say anything when I read that, but his username + lady gaga = does not compute:wtf:

You're quite right :)

Anyhow, it has been viewed almost 180million times on YouTube, just had to see what the fuss is about and I must admit, it's not bad...

The last 2 weeks or so I've been doing quite a bit of online gaming while throttled (mostly Forza Horizon) and I've encountered absolutely no problems. I've done at least 50 online races, fun as hell!!! My friend and I also played a bit of Borderlands and Dead Island online co-op and again, no problems.

On my PS3 I gave the Borderlands 2 online co-op a go and that was also fine. So my online multiplayer experience has been very good so far, especially Forza Horizon.

Cool, see the problem I have is my speeds will drop to 0KB/s for a couple of seconds/minutes(note: I don't mean the connection is lost, my signal strength still stays full) and thats cool for torrents because it just continues with the download once the speeds are up again, but when gaming it loses connection with the server so I get kicked out of whatever game I'm playing, and I've spent probably about 3 hours on the phone in the past trying to rectify this.

Ah well I'm done being angry LOL. After this I'm getting proper 4mb uncapped adsl:D Lesson learned

Edit: Because if you read the fine print it says throttled speeds from 0kbs-356kbs, so we all signed that we are happy to occasionally recieve 0kbs speeds:erm:

Yes, that sucks! Big time! I guess I've just been very lucky then...

I would love to get a ADSL line but apparently Telkom are full of all sorts of sh*t if you live in a security complex. I've read that if you apply for ADSL and you live in a security complex, and I do, they just say the service is not available?!?!
