MTN Uncapped services from 1 June

Hmmm typical. The only reason they get to call it uncapped is because they don't completely cut your service off after your cap is used. Thumbs up for them being able to twist the truth to suit them and lure suckers in:D. Soon the rest will jump onto the band wagon. But I reckon once all the teething problems have been sorted they may increase the threshold before throttling you. But don't see that happening nytime soon. Let's hope Vodacom doesn't try the BS baffles brains ideology

It's not bad, wish i had this a year ago then i might've stuck with them. Now it's too late, i went through the whole Telkom ADSL line install thing and now it's in and cheaper than MTN.

At least it's a step in the right direction. I'd still prefer they do this than bragging about 14.4 mbps speeds and continuing to rip us off *cough* Vodacom *cough*.

So you complainers can choose:

14.4 Mbps speeds (if you're lucky) but you can't afford more than 500MB a month

vs

3GB at 3.4 Mbps and then 128 kbps speeds but it's uncapped .

If i had an IPHONE or some bandwidth savvy mobile device, you bet i would pick the uncapped, i'll freaking buffer it....just no way i'm willing to do this on Vodacom.

1.4 Meg per second.....wow, 50min is all you need to use up this 3GIG "FUP"

14.4 MB/s + 3GIG fair usage policy = 128kb/s for the rest of the month

So you sign 24 month contract @ R745 per month = R17 976 BIG WHAT THE **** HERE????

Am i the only one outraged that MTN has the audacity to bring this to the market??????????

Never mind the fact that I am already paying R642 for 3GB on VC,
Wait thats unli... oh NM
Can these people do any maths?

bwaaaaahahahahaha uncapped, but you are limited to 3GB thereafter you can probably get a further 100mb or so if you really press hard....

thats like saying you can eat as much soup as you like, so long as you stick to a spoon full, there after we will replace you spoon with a tooth pick.... fail!

this takes me back to 2006 when ASA ruled that iBursts adverts concerning broadband was out of place. I lodged a complaint against Telkom's then ADSL entry level services advertised as broadband but quite quickly Telkom changed their adverts and iBurst succeeded in its appeal. I am going to look at lodging with ASA on this advert.

(having to split post - using my phone). Looking at the product its not a bad product in comparison to alternatives. It doesn't depend on ADSL so no need for a telephone line and related costs. when throttled you are looking at a service adequate to transmit ... You can actually use it for torrents etc ... after hours (I've seen torrent software for a symbian phone). If you have the service running on a netbook it can be used for mobility and if the fixed network goes down. It makes a lot of sense for businesses wanting to manage costs of roaming employees (such as sales reps) provide each employee with this service and they are catered for. If you use the service outright you should get more than 20 gigs.

What I feel is missing is the ability to bolt more 3G data onto the service once you are throttled, especially as you either need to go with 3Gb or 15Gb. Something like R20 for 75Gb extra at full speed would be nice - prepaid of course.

128kb/s is not ayoba. Can you even use skype at that speed?
I think throttling down to EDGE would have been more attractive.

R750 for wireless ISDN :-P and if you run it 24/7 you might get 40GB odd, although you might as well just wait to watch whatever you trying to download on SABC

I wonder how many people they will trick into signing up for 24 months of uncapped, only to realize after that they only really getting 3GB of decent speed and not be able to get out of the contract (makes me think of Gym's)

Multichoice and MTN = Fools of the month

/Hands them the trophy...:p
