MTN Uncapped services from 1 June

If you are full speed for 8 hours a day you can download 13GB in a month at 128

If this is what they call uncapped, I wonder what they mean with "real time billing" that was also mentioned in the same speech...

bs attempt at trying to get uncapped - "fair use policy of 3GB" probably be cheaper just to get the 3gig package. "MTN Unlimited Pro package has a fair use policy of 10GB" such rubbish!!! these companies are abusing and bending the real meaning of the word "uncapped"

lol... fair usage... what a joke.... hmm... how about the government gives us "uncapped" next... lets give the masses "uncapped water".... , turn on the tap and after the third full glass of water, a drop dripps slowly out like a tap that has not been closed propperly, followed by a spray of mud on our faces.... %$%^$#^#$ the ISP's and there bull!!!!

Come on never mind the authenticity of the package. What about the false\trick advertising??? Or even how about a response from an MTN rep? Remember only in SA uncapped=throttle

this might work where normal speeds are >4Mb and then possibly a throttle to say 2Mb i.e. half. But still very workable etc etc.

<cough> <clears throat> Told you you. <smug look>

Just for perspective, what make Afrihost/MWeb's offers any different to this offer from Neotel.

For the slow okes out there, it's price and size of cap. Both are called "uncapped", neither is uncapped, both are false advertising. Just because the price is lower, and the cap higher, doesn't mean that the product any more "uncapped" than the Neotel product. Rather stop this lying now, while were dealing with respectable ISPs, than have to deal with smaller and smaller AUC caps later on when every Tom, Dick and Harry climes on the bandwagon, dropping the threshold "just a bit", hoping squeeze their margins up "just a bit".

Come on, at least it should be able to stream the lowest youtube vid @ 360p. 360p needs around 800kbps, MTN could have at least made the soft cap at 1 mbits

blah blah blah blah blah. When it comes to uncapped, the wireless guys must rather stay away and let the fixed line guys take on that market.

MTN only if you can provide uncapped at the same or lower prices than fixed line and not impose such ridicules fair usage policies, then I'll stand up and take note, but for now, just do what you do to rip off the South African public.

My sentiment exactly. But why do so many get it yet so many dont. Especially those that should. DAMN BRU

Fail

Another useless offering from MTN. No doubt the other telecoms will come out with similar useless offers. Why can't ICASA prevent them from calling these services uncapped? No sane person could call this true uncapped.

PRICING FAIL!

How myopic. Trying to jump on the uncapped bandwagon. 3GB is not uncapped.

what really worries me is their pricing, throttling, contract and MTNot's billing. let the fools who believe that this is a fair deal jump into the MTNot wagon and they will be stuck for the next 24months.

its not truly uncapped, when you have an section stating "The MTN Unlimited Lite package will have a fair use policy of 3GB and the MTN Unlimited Pro package has a fair use policy of 10GB."

So is 3Gb & 10Gb per day, or per month, per week??

Why are they even allowed to say "uncapped" in the same sentence as throttled????????????????????????
I would have expected a lot more sarcasm from the journo because this is simply FALSE advertising

Seems like someone at MTN has cottened on to the false advertising of the ADSL market and assumed they can make even more cash from it on their crazy-long contract terms.

This is funny

First there was capped...

Then there was uncapped...

Now we have capped uncapped...

I can't believe that someone dreamt this up... and someone else agreed with it... and they both get paid to do it!

LOL!
