MWEB blocking certain protocols now?

Changing your IP address and DNS server has multiple consequences.

Indeed. I use a software firewall that needs to be able to resolve my internal DNS addresses, so I can't set it to use the dynamically-provided ones without losing functionality. And I need to provide internal DNS in any event to client PC's. The easiest solution is therefore to hardcode the DNS server address.

Need SSH for work as well come on mweb!

SSH to Hetzner works correctly for me, so it's not completely blocked. I don't use IMAPS so I can't test that.

Can't play osu (port 55XXX), can't connect to my torrentflux (port 9000) making it somewhat pointless.
*anger*

But meh, lets just hope it fixes within the next few days, not double what they estimate again...

Apparently the IM protocols are "heavy usage" as well? Are you kidding MWEB? Please get a grip and realise some of these protocols are used for legitimate business/work functions. You don't have to unshape them entirely, just allow SOME bloody bandwidth on the connection so it's not completely dead!

imap.googlemail.com on port 993 does not seem to be working either. It works on my Vodacom3G, but not MWEB ADSL.
Google uses non-standard ports for imap, so its likely that the techie only thought of the standard ones. I think google has an alternate port though...maybe check that.

smtp.mweb.co.za [196.28.80.20]: 550-Relaying from 41.241.142.114.
Uses the password protected mweb smtp. As long as your mweb username & pass check out it won't give you grief regardless of connection type.

Could the rest of us share in this wealth of knowledge too? How do we get Gmail IMAP working?

And what about the questions about SSH for work purposes?

Great, thanks. Any reason why Googletalk and MSN are blocked? Or are they included in the list of services to be restored?

Can't get FTP/Cpanel access to our server hosted by Afrihost (local). This is essential for my work so Mweb can you please help me out of possible?

As crazy as it sounds I was getting more work done before anything was re-routed and we had no international, since nothing local was blocked then...

Gmail (pop and imap) please!!!!!!!!

Seconded. We are using Google Apps for our business mail and are unable to get our mail. Users aren't familiar with the Gmail interface, so using web browser based is not an option. Please!!! Port 993!!!

Mr Mweb,

While you are at it can you include these addresses, these are from my financial datafeed for my trading software -- at the moment is does not work. If I can not trade, I can not earn money and if I can not earn money I can not pay MWeb!!!
