Mweb cuts ADSL prices

its not only mweb droppingm openweb has dropped too, but no one dropped the 4mb....why??? no one got a 4mb special price...u pay for 4mb..end of story...pay for 4mb at what ISP's price them, so give us a discount also...we never asked to start 4mb at a low price and never drop the price ....

put it this way, ISP's make money out of 4mb , now the price drop of IPC and they stil make money (more now) so why not let us 4mb users also gain joy of drop in IPC? why only let SOME people get the joy?

I still think it's crap that 4 mbps users got left out of this. but hey money talks and the customer needs to keep quiet and take what they get.

Hi ReBeL25

Our 4 Mbps Uncapped product @ R539 is already incredible value for money compared to anything else available at the moment. Now we also have the same great value available at entry level.

trying to sign up but just goes to step one, then it ask to enter sms code, but i dont get a code....

It is a well known fact that 4mb users are in general heavy users so it makes perfect sense to drop the 1meg price as 4 users = 1 x 4mb user. 4mb user @ R539-00 but 4 x 1mb users = R796-00. Its called business and earning money for your stock holders.

Thanks MWEB for taking the lead once again (and force the other ISP's hand at the same time).

+1

MWeb is the SA's best ISP, no doubts about it.

If I upgrade my 384K (all in one package) to 1mb (all in one package) now, i will only have to pay R480 (new price) per month, right?

How long does it take to get my line upgraded to 1mb if I choose 1mb all in one package?

let us wait till we can get pricing (and dropped too) for 2Mbps line speeds. Watch a lot of 4Mbps users will downgrade. But well done MWEB, it is great to see this change.

MWEB Guy, is there any chance you could comment on MWEB possibly introducting a 2MB uncapped option?

With the rumours released yesterday of Telkom upgrading 1mbps to 2mbps from June I would love to change my existing MWEB account to match the speed of this line upgrade.

Hi Arzy

If Telkom does upgrade 1Mbps ADSL Lines to 2Mbps, ISP’s may decide to introduce a new product at 2Mbps at a different price; but this will vary from ISP to ISP - at this stage we can’t foresee what will happen with regards to pricing in the future. We will however, not increase prices on existing products without customer consent.

Please be assured that we will always continue trying to deliver the best value to our customers.

Aint that the truth...

The 4Mbit uncapped package IS incredible value for money. That's one of the reasons why I got it. I don't want or need more line speed and I can't see how the cost can be dropped further

I think there is: give an option to just have uncapped data only at full line speeds 4Mbps for half the cost (i.e. R269.50) between 6PM and 6AM weekdays and all weekends. Then I for one will be happy as my line is not being used for downloading during office hours. I am sure there others out there in this position. We want fast speeds and uncapped, but after hours only. And we want it from MWEB--no one else.

I would signup for that...

well i think the 4 mbps and higher guys missed out on this round. I know of 1 meg guys doing 120+ gig on a month. If I download 24/7 I get 240 to 300 gig for the month? Am I missing something? I should be getting at least 4 times what they are getting?

P.S.

@Smiley_lauf have you every been on 4 mbps? If you have you will never downgrade. I downgraded and I will never again. Any speed below 4mbps is to slow!

The previous MWEB CEO is right, Telkom needs to drop their adsl line rental prices. I feel 4 and 10mbps guys are still paying more than they should for Lince rental. Uncapped is good but, I can have 10mpbs, but I have to pay Mweb more than R539 for what Telkom offered me free??? c'mon guys that is plain and simple (to me) raping the customer on pricing? I understand we all need to make money, but, not at the expense of the customer!

This is SA and MTN, VodaCom, etc. is already doing their rounds. My A-Hole is feeling like a freeflow exhaust by now!

If the 4mb price doesnt drop, i might as well downgrade to 1mb... That's a price difference of R340...

I am certainly dropping from a 4 meg line to a 1 meg. The price difference is too big to justify staying at 4 meg. The more Mweb subscribers that downgrade, the quicker they'll drop the price for 4 meg lines.

@Rebet25--Yes, I started with 384K (only speed my exchange could support), then went to 4M (because exchange now could support this max speed and I was curious to test), then back to 1M (to test speeds and "level of patience"), then back to 4M (because I could not stand waiting for downloads--either pay with money to get better speeds or pay with time--time lost out; also note that although exchange supports 4M max, I am only getting up to that speeds so average out to 2M). I have been with this speed for a while enough for me to get used to 2M line (faster would be better). Hence my suggestion to offer a 2M service from MWEB. or reduce the data only on 4M service to 50% and offer it after hours only.

dilemma?

On account of the rumor that Telkom will be doing a speed upgrade soon? Does that mean that if telkom upgrades the other ISP will automatically also follow suite, and pass the effective savings on? because there is already a 1.5 month delay for current mweb subscribers (effectively putting it at the doorstep of the rumor datea)

Because I currently have Mweb R219 uncapped and 384 line... I am assuming the from Mweb's perspective 384 and 1Mb are the same now. So if I stay wilth my linespeed for a couple of months one day miraculously my speed will be 2.6666666666x times faster :P. But with the price cut I would be happy to upgrade to 1Mb line through Mweb.

What would be the best option ?
