See - thats what I'd like to know - because then its not uncapped if there's now a data limit.

My guess is they're now going to play the download 24/7 T&C - or maybe the unattended download one... And all the fanboys will jump to their defence, even though they haven't actually specified a GB limit on accounts....

Well - then downloading ANYTHING over http is bypassing their rules - and they have the right to can everyone if they please.
 
Questions for King_Kraig:

1) How much for the months of July/June/May/April
2) What did you download with? i.e. manual/download manager
3) Constant download or bursts?

Question for Mweb_Ops:

1) What are the chances of total transparency with accounts? Like a wall showing who got kicked and why? And who is doing the highest transfer (legally).
2) Hasn't the download 24/7 been removed from the T&C?

quite a difference in pulling 300 gigs over http site A and say 100 meg nvidia driver from site B. mweb ops.... when they do reply might lift a little of the veil ;)

There shouldn't be. Mweb have, as a few other members been saying, been shaping hotfile, filehost and other http file download sites. Which means if he did not bypass the shaping in any manner, why is he being penalised. I'm all for protecting a network from abuse but if someone follows the shaping rules they do not deserve to get penalised.

Pretty sure a few pages pack MWEB said you could download as much as you like as long as you don't try bypass their shaping policy... so the 300GB is irrelevant - it could be 10GB next month.. Afrihost comes to mind with regards to this sort of changing the rules tactic.

Interested to see MWEB's response.

erm, how else are you gonna pull that amount without a DM?

funny thing is, during office hours haven't been downloading at all. just surfing, emails, skype, etc. & considering the line was never stable due to the shaping policies. so i'd say in bursts.
 
My account has been cancelled as of immediately. They cancelled my uncapped and when i phoned M-Web told me it is because i abused their "uncapped" product. Well mr M-Web F**** you!!!
 
I think the ball has just dropped. Can I assume there will be a news article in the morrow regarding Mweb killing off their clients?
 
Jack, can you answer the same questions king_kraig has? It'll help you get an idea and will help us try get some hold on what constitutes abuse.

They didn't cap him, they terminated his contract. At an average of 500G a month he's effectively costing Mweb at least R3k a month to keep as a customer - obviously at some point they're going to decide that he's not worth cross subsidising on the cheaper uncapped option and ask him to upgrade or go somewhere else.
