Hey my fellow Mybroadbanders, hoping somebody could shed some light on a matter.

I've been with MWEB for 2 weeks now, I've got the normal 2mb uncapped, not the premium.

Since yesterday my line has been throttled for excessive usage, getting about 0.2Mbps download speeds. The MWEB rep informed me that I've gone through about 35gb in these 2 weeks. Just note that I've mainly used the line for Netflix, I don't torrent.

I'm quite new to ADSL, is this normal when compared to other ISP's? I just wanna know if I've got a misconception regarding what is seen as excessive usage.

Cheers

Good Morning Martian

The throttled product is not ideal for gaming and downloading, as it was not designed for this purpose.

If you are downloading or gaming, I would suggest the premium shaped or unshaped product. This will probably suite your needs a bit better.

Kind regards

I don't download or game, like I said in my original post, I mainly use the line to stream Netflix.

This is data intensive traffic though, the throttled account is not ideal martian.

I think MWEB is not ideal.

Unfortunately I'm stuck with you guys for another 30 days now.

Oh well, guess that's how you learn.

We have products that would be better suited to your needs.

Maybe you should have opened your eyes and read that the normal uncapped EXCEPT the 1mb uncapped are throttled packages. Just down grade to the 1mb uncapped and you should be fine, if you need the 2mb then get the premium one like MWEB Guy said.

I have the 4mb uncapped premium, have had no throttling and my usage for last month was > 100GB.

Wasn't my query but thank you so much for your amazing input.

Sour grapes just because you can't differentiate between standard and premium services? You should have learned basic comprehension at school.

Your attitude stems from your own failure to read and should be directed at yourself; no-one else.

35gb in two weeks and your throttled? Thats pathetic? Throttled 'uncapped'. That does suck.

You bought the wrong product. MWEB Premium has no throttling.

Just get an OPENWEB GOLD UNCAPPED account. Damn glad that I left MWEB recently :D MWEB's no longer the best local ISP :( RIP MWEB.

Personally, I don't think it's too much to expect an uncapped product to behave as such.

But then you need to pay for it. These cheapie home uncapped products were created because the masses don't value quality, only price. So don't blame MWEB for creating a product based on price and not quality.

Blame the OP for choosing the product designed around price, instead of the product based around quality.
