MWEB Throttling

Maybe you should have opened your eyes and read that the normal uncapped EXCEPT the 1mb uncapped are throttled packages. Just down grade to the 1mb uncapped and you should be fine, if you need the 2mb then get the premium one like MWEB Guy said.

This is not true, i am on 1MB uncapped and they throttle me to death, 2kbp/s at midnight, are you kidding me?

Hi Inzaghi007

Please PM me your account details and I will have a look at your service status.

Damn, your cancellation department must be extremely busy these days. Your CEO must be sweating in his $10000000 pajamas right now :D

All I want to say is **** Mweb. Absolutely pathetic. Stop calling your products uncapped when clearly there is a cap. Throttling to the point where connection is dead? ****ing hell, so glad I left when I did.

Lets call it what it is, a cap. I don't use my Mweb account at home anymore. Our router is actually turned off. I cant even load SA websites. We use Afrihost mobile data now at home.

I will never forgive Mweb for this. Throttle to 50% of the speed is acceptable, but to the point where the connection is dead. I will spread unkind words about Mweb for as long as I breath.

I must say that even iBurst which had for many years 64kbps after one went through ones' cap, was better that this. 64kbps was faster than dialup and you could get unlimited 6-7KB/sec downloads. (Granted iBurst sometimes - if not often - screwed up and left the connection at 1mb/sec despite going over cap) that 6-7KB/sec allowed a person to browse pretty well and if really pushed you could download 260MB overnight. But this MWEB throttling sounds terrible. They're even outdoing iBurst in 2005.

Throttled iBurst was always 6-7KB/sec. I never went below that. 2KB/sec is worse than 33,600kbps modem speed, and most people had 56Kbps on dial up.

Afrihost 1GB free per month for life, u should register for that, to help u out. Maybe get each household member - each with own ID book register too. :)

Isn't it linked to phone line?

I have moved across to Afrihost, pitty though, I have been with M-web for a long time, and even though there are cheaper products out there I stayed with them.
The over the top throttling really stuffed up my opinion of what Mweb consider to be reasonable discretion.

If you want to suspend your account remember you need to give a months notice, so ..... change your account to a 1gig capped account (remember to switch off the auto top up functions else it could get real expensive), sure its going to cost you R29 but call it a "tuition fee"

The gaming ping is slower than when the MWeb Premium account was working.... but my GAD it is working, the wife does not gnaw off my ear about her downloads that are not running, and the teenagers sighing has subsided.

So i inquired yesterday for some opinions about things going crazy on my account and after i noticed my gaming latency give me issues for the first time in a while on Monday. Spoke with a tech from Mweb yesterday, i am speed limited. Yay. 2Mb line, premium uncapped. I might have grabbed 2 game clients from the download site which put me on 20gb already, so that effectively gives me 15gb to have filled before the limit kicked in. Tech says i should not download anything for a day or two and it should remove the flag. How do you do that? Browsing, Youtube, antivirus updates, game updates. Those are essentially downloads of a sort as well. Do you want to tell me im not allowed to move traffic for 2 days? Really not in the mood to entertain this Russian roulette of when i can have a fully functioning line again. After 5 years of supporting Mweb, i might have to rethink my strategy if im going to get penalized for the terabyte leeches out there. I havnt seen anyone mention the FNBConnect 100% Discounted uncapped... how is it? I know i qualify, but haven't looked into it.

Exactly! I used up about 2G yesterday just on watching listening U-tube music videos and browsing.

Why? You do not believe the poll stats?

Nope. What's stopping people who haven't even been members from voting? On top of that how do you measure it? Did you leave this month last month or planning to leave?

There was a poll already ;)

So? Doesn't make the data anymore valid.

Whatever suits your fancy dude, some people use the internet and now get penalized for it at Mweb. Sure there are abusers but that's what the Internet are there for, Mweb took it too far and therefore I left.

Agreed 100% - MWEB pushed too far, I left and took as many people with me as I could.

I also agree that either Fudzy is working for MWEB, has mate there or is just at 40Watts...

Nope, don't work for them. Just a happy customer :) I see Afrihost is already feeling the burden of the abusers that have jumped ship, I wonder how long till they're the pariah of the ISP industry?
