MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

The reason I have cancelled my Mweb account is that I have no way of managing my usage in order to avoid throttling. And not only have I no way of managing, should I get throttled, I have an unusable service for at least another month after I cancel, or I'm unreasonably forced to pay two ISPs for that period.

Even were Mweb to have the absolutely best uncapped offering, while this stupid situation exists I cannot consider the product.

Definitely going to switch over. Tired of this rubbish.

The moment MwebGuy told me I am being limited. Sent the cancellation email off. Was stupid of me. Should have done it last month like the rest of the people. But me being the trusting guy ,thought let me give Mweb a chance with this new direction they are taking and see what would happen. As I have been with them for almost 4 years. Afirhost here I come.

The logic here is that your back-haul is so rubbish you'd rather attack the CLIENTS instead of upgrading, you're losing MORE money with monthly customers than paying for once off equipment to upgrade your failing network.

World class network my arse.

It looks like all the 1mb users are getting throttled after 50gb

Edit: "Connection status: Unthrottled" Dafuq?

Quick question, do I need to fill in the cancellation form or can I just phone them and do it that way?

Using that logic, it looks like the 4 Meg Premuim users will be "capped" at around 200gig

This is my last two weeks, so I will test out this theory and get back as soon as they start throtteling me.

I emailed the form available elsewhere in this thread and got confirmation from [email protected]. I then replied o this confirmation requesting downgrade to a 1MB capped account as of 1 Oct and this was confirmed.

The good part of this sad saga is that the lady effecting the downgrade at least was sympathetic to my reason for the downgrade request:
Thank you for your e-mail regarding the downgrade of your MWEB ADSL.

It can become an unnecessary expense paying for something you don't need.

I am, to some extent, sorry to leave, however the package as currently implemented is unacceptable to me. I would strongly suggest to Mweb, that, as a matter of goodwill for the next 2 months or so that they consider offering cancellation without the one month's notice, after all the change was implemented from their side without option to cancel without a month's notice.

Thanks bekdik

I just got off the phone with them and the operator on the other side told me that she has been dealing with cancellations all morning and feels sorry she can't do anything to help us. I told her its not her fault and its unfortunate that I have to leave (for the second time).

I'm off to fax the cancellation form this morning and be done with mweb for the final time.

Adding to this
I can now NOT game online, as certain games can use up to 40~50KB/s (dota2) and im getting limited to basically 128k
this getting retarded with this aggressive limiting
so looks like I have pretty much paid for 50gb+128k bw

Exactly this. It simply does not make sense to stay with mweb unless you are certain your usage is so low there's no chance of you getting throttled. But then how can you possibly be certain??

Hi

Thanks for the info, I checked the account and I see that it is speed limited at the moment.
It looks like your speed on your account should return to normal speeds in about 1-2days.

WOW!? really?
What makes you think I couldn't that figure out myself, did you even bother to look at the images I posted?
1-2days? you're joking. Then I just get throttled to retarded slow speeds (<128~64k) when I pass this imaginary cap-limit.
Also, I'm over it cancellation is going in today.

If MWeb were traffic cops, they'd pull you over for speeding without knowing what the speed limit is exactly.
Suck It MWeb, I've already cancelled and will be ensuring everyone I've pushed in your direction follows my lead.

I came to this forum expecting to read something about a network problem, being the reason I was getting such *** speeds. After reading the last few pages I think my cancellation will be going in as well this week.

I'm busy signing up with Afrihost as we speak, going to downgrade and cancel Mweb once I'm up and running with Afrihost.
