LOL... I recommend downgrading to 384 and spending the rest on getting a girlfriend, or renting one if thats your thing!
 
My browsing is *** slow...

If I torrent and nntp and browse, then I manage to hit 40KB/s otherwise, browsing hits 10KB/s max.

I vote for a dynamic shaping system that works per minute instead of per hour

I dunno, I switched back to uncapped after I discovered that girlfriends have vague terms and conditions that change at any time without notice to you, have no guarantee of throughput at all and your account gets suspended for something as trivial as just glancing at another account for redundancy. Uncapped was a lot cheaper in the end.

If you'll excuse me now, I'd better start running before the angry fem mob gets here.

Took me a while, but finally....

At this point, still nothing, no communication (unless I personally call)...nada. When consultant assure me that they will call back, nothing....

On a side note - if i were to cancel this subscription, would I still be liable for payment seeing that I have not actually used the service since the service is not active? And does the 30-day notice period apply?

Some feedback....

My line was finally activated on 21 May 2010, a month later.

However, to give some credit, MWEB consultant did contact me the same day I originally PM'ed the MWEB rep. She was very helpful and tried her best, i guess, to help me get connected. The main issue in the end was that I initially applied for the 4MB line, however Telkom does support 4MB in my specific area. Instead of communicating this to me, Telkom rejected the application and MWEB marked it as completed!! So the whole application process needed to be restarted.
In the end I have settled for a 512kb line.

All thats left now, is the billing. According to MWEB they owe me money:D:D Well, actually, come to think of it, I deserve this for for all the emotional pain and suffering that was caused to me :p

<offTopic> where would i post to find out whats wrong with my line? I loose connection everytime there is a phone call and cant connect my modem and phone to same telkom jack (using the filter), the line just goes dead</offTopic>
 
I am thinking of getting 384 Mweb uncapped.
After work hours and weekends, is things like Skype working OK?

You want to get uncapped for using Skype...? I hope that's not the only thing you'll be using it for because otherwise it might be a bit of an overkill. Unless you plan to video call people 24/7.
 
Not just for Skype.
Just wondering if Skype is effected by Mweb throttling / shaping after hours and on weekends.

It'll work fine.

Consider getting a capped package rather, might work out a lot cheaper for you if all you're going to be doing is using skype.

Even with skype + video feeds, a capped package of say 15gb's should work fine imho..

Should also leave you with some spare cap for browsing and whatever else...
 
Nice. Looks like international just died, again. Another weekend of slowness or nothing I wonder...what excuse this time?
 
Isn't there a law about minimum uptime?

Because between normal service outs and SEACOM crap we are getting about 90% uptime.

P.S. Ever noticed there is only an "out" after business hours :P
