Getting useless speeds, corrupted downloads on files (10MB files!).
Half the websites do not load or time out. ADSL line is fine, syncing at 4MB. Rebooted the router multiple times.
Think its time to move on.

With so many people have problems, is highly unlikely that the problem is on our side so calling us is pretty much useless. My torrents have been dead pretty much since thursday (Except on Saturday miday, it moved. Just a bit.)

Furthermore I know Im not the only that has had this problem. Now it seems there are browsing problems, and I just had such a problem earlier though nothing major (Still irritating). Clearly, the problem is not on our sides.

Torrents are not a major thing for me though, as long as it moves sometimes since Im patient but it would be nice to get what your paying for - even if it is shaped, not dead most of the time.

Luckily I have not had the browsing problems like you guys have, except for a little bit earlier. Though am I the only one that thinks calling us is stupid? :wtf:

The MWEB 4MB packages has just become as useful as my dial up modem. Nothing to do with any other factors MWEB is shaping everything to hell.

UPDATE, 25 May 2010: MWEB has decided to severely shape not only torrents (understandable), but regular HTTP download sites such as Rapidshare, Hotfile, Filefactory and others. Download speeds are maximum 30-40KB/s during the day, with some let-up during evenings. Browsing is usable, but for downloading it would be frustrating for most. It is fair to say that MWEB's Uncapped should be rebranded 'Uncapped browsing', as uncapped downloading clearly isn't what these accounts were intended for. No need to have a 512k or 4Mbps line with these accounts if you intend to download - a 384K would be just fine.

GMail access still slow

Evening Mweb

I was wondering if there is any feedback to my post from a couple of weeks ago about very slow access to Gmail, Google search, etc?

All three laptops that we use at home have slow access to Google sites, no downloads are running and the line is a 384Kb uncapped. All other websites respond decently and I don't have this issue from my companies MTN Business Diginet line. At the time I had similar reponses from other users trying to use Google sites.

Hope you can assist.

Many thanks.

Does anybody know why the speeds on RS and the like are so damn bad... the last few days have felt like swimming through mud!

Because they are throttling it. Its being treated the same as a P2P or torrent based service. So its heavily "shaped/ throttled".

I've been phone this morning by 2 diffirent MWEB people, from Technical and Operations. And I've been told by both, "that without shaping and throtteling, it is unsustainable." That heavy shaping and throtteling is in effect on all protocols except email and browsing.

If this is not misinformation and misrepresentation, I don't know what is. :wtf:

It's time for official complaints at ASASA. (http://www.asasa.org.za/Complaint.aspx)

They must be stopped fooling customers and steeling their money.

Without trying to be difficult, you need to specify exactly which clause in the T&C you consider MWeb is infringing. Read all of sections 9 and 12 at least.
