MWEB Uncapped ADSL - Official Q & A

I think we need to also say that MWEB's Business offering is probably worse than other countries consumer offerings, or conversely the consumer offering in say USA (more expensive consumer offerings) are superior in terms of shaping/bw allocation to MWEB's and other providers. I know this is obvious but we should re-iterate it before MWEB says they are giving us something special. They are still giving us a crippled product - and the UNCAPPED should be qualified with UNCAPPED, SHAPED. R899 is STILL A LOT OF MONEY. For that price you can get true UNCAPPED, NO THRESHOLDS, NO SHAPING, no limits 24/7 download broadband in most 1st world countries. R899 = $120 - that's a lot of money.

It's still better to cache it on your local HDD. If you have to download it again, you are increasing to the traffic. Ideally keep it if you think you'll need it but don't DL everything obviously, then again sometimes the things aren't there later on ;).

Agreed. I imagine that many people purchasing the uncapped service in the coming months will lose control and download for the sake of downloading. Perhaps this will stabilize in time. The novelty value of "uncapped" will hopefully wear off soon. I have an uncapped service because I like having the extra headroom and not having to constantly check how much of my cap remains. If I want a file, I download it. That doesn't mean I have to see how many gigabytes I can pull down each month and bleat about the shaping of P2P protocols.

Sometimes though its just a thing of use it while u have it, or like going crazy like a kid in a candy store
 
While on iBurst I virtually always enjoy(ed) full 125KB/sec. Did that mean I was on 1:1 contention ratio?
 
Also the only reason why people download so much is because it's cheaper to store it than to download, well was :)
1Gb cost you R30 whereas 1Gb storage costs around 50c. So when people got the chance they downloaded to fill those hdd
they will soon realise as i did recently that you WILL not be a able to watch everything and buying a TB hdd every month is not feasible.

well.. i went thru this whole Q&A and still wasn't clear on those question.. (ok.. i saw the first Q was answered clearly after my post..) so as a customer, i like to know clearly about the info before i buy a product or get the service..
 
Can someone please PM me on how to setup the Mweb email and view usage and use the 300 free wifi Minutes on this uncapped account

Yes, no problem MWEB will do the line transfer for you. On our side its very quick however there is sometimes a delay waiting for Telkom to do their bit, will try to get you an average delay.

@ MWeb Can Mweb transfer lines from SAOL or only from Telkom? Please respond as I would like to give this a try.

Also...Are the service locked per telephone line number or can the single concurrent connection also be used from another location .... say either home or office. If not what can you offer.
 
once the uncap is everywhere like oversea. Than you will ask what in the package,you guy wont download that much you only watch and play online unless something realy nice than you will download. Other wise wont have that much people to download.a lot country running 100mbps broadband. but we running with snail. the expensive one
 
Hi Mr Mweb Rep.

I got an application form and there is a section for an Authority for a debit order. When I first spoke to a consultant they said I could do an EFT every month, how would I do this?
