I do conform to it funny guy, im just a normal user, any mistakes I make does not matter.

Normal? Define... No please rather not.

/back on topic.

Thanks @Mweb for making the time in this Q&A to answer our questions. We Appreciate your efforts. Now all I have to do is "revert back" to Telkom to get my lines sorted. :D Then Uncapped...here I come.

I disagree. So do many MyBB members. We expect people to write correctly. It irritates us when they don't.

We, however, tolerate it as in the case of FragmePlease, who explained that he did not spell well and wanted to left alone by the grammar nazis.

So please drop your inane crusade against the wording used by the MWEB representative.

You are way off topic and beginning to direct insults at people.

Add to the specific debate and be useful.

As in non-official, normal and and official are the only tipes i stated, but you know all this.
Its fun to make fun of the guy that stands out isnt it?
Okay, now you've gone from master of the English language to desecrator of the English language..

Maybe it would be a good idea if the MWEB rep puts all the useful questions in the first post of the thread so that they do not get re-asked or so that people do not have to go looking through the thread to see if its been asked before.

@ Lightscribe

I was making a point, which others decided to take personally and escalate. But feel good, my view of the general myBB public has been healthely reinforced.

They said that they are busy doing just that...I hope they add one for "What is revert?". :D

No one took anything personally and I hope you don't think we're all a bunch of terrible people. I'm sure we're as diverse as you can find anywhere. The issue became an issue when you made it one.

We then just reminded you, of that old saying, about taking the log out of your own eye first... ;)

Another question for MWEB, and I'm sorry if it has been asked and I missed it, it gets hard following everything in a thread like this when people start going off on a tangent like this.

MWEB mentioned somewhere that you can't use ADSL without paying for the phone line (which I already know and is ridiculous considering you then have to pay for exactly the same line again to use ADSL), and mentioned that they're working on that.

Does this mean MWEB might in the future be able to offer ADSL service without the need to pay the damn phone line rental each month ?

I'd love that, as I want to get rid of our phone since it's expensive and we only ever use cellphones anyway.

Confucius say, man who lives in glass house, must get dressed in basement.

Boy, I hope they clean this thread up.

Hi Boggle,

Unfortunately what you ask for above will only be possible once LLU legislation is finalised, and we dont have any confirmed timelines or milestones from ICASA atm (besides the ex-ministers "it will be complete by end 2011").

MWB.

When I ping news.mweb.co.za I get IP address 196.43.2.61. A lookup on this IP address returns news.saix.net.
Hi Gordon_R,

If you're resolving the above on MWEB's network, you're using the wrong DNS servers (i.e. not MWEB's). Let your router learn MWEB's dns servers from the PPPoE auth negotiation instead of hardwiring them.

So R100 from a consumer is worth less than R100 from a Business, never knew that.
Hi Balstrome,

Not sure I understand what you're saying. The Business products carry a higher price tag than the consumer ones for the reasons I've previously specified.

Is the "bundled router" hard-coded to work with MWEB only?

********************

Hi Scrumptious,

Yes, its a managed service meaning the customer will not have access to the bundle router. As mentioned previously MWEB can configure the router as a 'dumb' forwarding device allowing the customer to deploy their own router/firewall behind it thereby maintaining full control of access, security, NAT etc.

Sheeesh, this was a crazy read.

I have the answer that everyone asks about! How does MWeB handle "abuse"

Answer: Pay your R500 odd bucks, do what you normally do....if you get a call / email from them you will know that you are abusing the service. You basically have nothing to lose in trying this service.

Hopefully I will get my account sorted this week in order for me to test it myself.

news.mweb.co.za

Hi All,

We have isolated the connection/load related issues on news.mweb.co.za. The problem is a bit systemic in nature involving our upstream feed. Our engineers are aiming to have the issue resolved during the coming week, until then the symptoms will continue during peak (news) load times.

We apologise and appreciate your patience.

MWB.
