MWEB Uncapped ADSL - Official Q & A

Thats all good but when I had IS (MWeb) I remember the news server was damn slow.. telkom is waaay faster... so the question is if they shaping will it be any worse than it is currently on a 3GB account??
 
Can someone please help me. I've just started using the Free Uncapped account, but now having a problem with my Telkom SMTP, it is refusing to accept my login. Must I use the MWEB SMTP settings? If I do wont the wrong email address display? Sorry, I've never used another account before. Quite urgent as I need to get an email sent!

Use smtp.mweb.co.za

No the right email address will display, it is just using the smtp settings to send as Telkom's smtp settings are SAIX backbone.
 
The advert I heard on the radio today (5fm) advocated PIRACY!!! Talked about downloading Mama Mi the movie! So... downloading movies is acceptable use?

Yeah, I figured that someone would bring this up at some point.
Get over it - move on... It's a stupid ad anyways, just like the competitions they are running.

I'm way over it, I personally will wait for the "gold rush" to die down and then decide which hill I want to mine ;)

Yes there has been a major update implemented on the news.mweb.co.za service to fix the connection problems that were being experienced earlier. This should not have changed the retention period though (500 days is pretty old, maybe the content expired?), so I have escalated this to the relevant engineering team.

In a manner of speaking. MWEB has deployed its own news infrastructure and any access requests to news.saix.net on the new MWEB network are redirected to our own servers (same 2 connections limit applies).

Hi now this new thing with mweb not being with saix anymore irritates me. I cannot download anymore! I have changed my server settings on alt.binz(download program) to news.mweb.co.za but it never connects!! can you please get someone to sort this out for me??? I am capped but I download from a local site, so this is def not the issue. I have been unable to download for over a week, day and night.

Please can you contact me on [email protected] and try help me with this problem asap.
