MWEB Uncapped - something big might be happening tomorrow!

Effectively an announcement which is relevant only to Windows users who already have DStv and a 4MB line :(

(Have they done their research? Is this the largest proportion of their users?)

Free The Web South AfricaYesterday we said there would be an exciting announcement, and following the earlier announcement by DStv, here it is! Today DStv launched DStv On Demand in association with MWEB. This collaboration means that all MWEB ADSL and DStv Premium subscribers will never have to miss their favourite DStv shows ever again - AND they can enjoy it online absolutely free of charge! Full press release here: http://bit.ly/aXisxY3 minutes ago

Disappointing :S

So its free if we have a dstv premium account?

*EDIT*

Just read it on mweb, tis free

Complete joke, anti competitive and a let down. If you're not with Mweb, tough luck. If you're not a premium subscriber, tough luck. If you're on 384 or 512 it will take one month to download a show, tough luck. And most people with premium do have a pvr, no use.

We would like to see an pay per view on demand service for non-suscribers or a residential IPTV option, that would be great news.

That's quite disappointing... I would have preferred them to remove the shaping... or lessen it... What will I do with this on a 384K line? :(

so I can't watch the cricket live- only the stuff they have on theier website?? what crap

They should make the PVR also IP-capable so that you do not need to sit in front of your computer to watch these shows.

Also dont forget that even us 4mb users would find it difficult to stream the content since we are shaped most of the time. So we actually cannot stream the content properly. Unless ofcourse we upgrade to Mweb Business Uncapped. Im sorry, but this announcement was a big fail. I think Mweb should have done a little more than that...

No relevance to me...f@k Why make such big bohaai over crap like this??

Anyone tried it? Does it seem to be shaped at all?

ROFL! That would be particularly amusing! I wonder if everyone else's performance will drop now as some people download hours of on demand video!

Why do these companies never listen to their clients. FAIL!!! R500 for DSTV when you have News Servers, no thanks.

Beware MWEB... if you cry wolf too many times for nothing, when the public might just decide to club in together and buy telkom off, it will be too late for your big announcements, then the ISP's will have to pay the public line rentals, and everyone gets uncapped 4MB lines

Well actualy this is so so lame , I am really considering canceling my subs with DSTV now. I been thinking about it all week, but the as for a world offering .... wow thanks dstv /mweb ... lets rather run from these okes as they already steeling so so much from us as it is, and to make their offeirng so so great they give us dstv on demand if you are with mweb. wow. we all have 10 meg lines for this thanks...

im kinda confused... DTSV on demand has been around for yonks... they have old shows, and half the time the stuff doesnt work

so what the hell is the point?? :wtf:
