Aint it amazing how the nay-sayers have clammed uo so quickly :D

As I said before, people don't complain for nothing. I have noticed a dedicated few complaining about the complaints, which must give them some joy.

Funny story, as the uncapped thing was coming out a lot of these fanboys were going on about how MWEB can't be trusted... suppose the same happened with Afrihost - dedicated fans until something else comes along.

No mweb in the past has been known to rip people off, so in the beginning we were very worried.

Also WTF is this dedicated fan BS? Whoever has a good product gets my business. I could care less if it happens to be mweb, openweb, afrihost or some new company that launched last week :D

You shouldn't have to think too hard to realise the purpose involved becoming a fan for something you like... not to mention the publicity it causes (which leads to greater wholesale demand and thus cheaper prices) or how the expectation of what quality standards should be provided are strengthened - because that's after all why there are any fans in the first place. Besides, imagine how boring it would be if the possibility of expressing your taste in the form of being a fan were to be stripped - pure emotionless systematic hopping from one ISP to ISP, JUST because of the price? Boring! I'd rather support an ISP on a more personal level, encouraging them to do the same to me in the quality of service they provide back to me... inspiring them to innovate their products and services - and thats after all where real competition is formed xD =]

Hmmm but if they cannot offer a product for same price will you stick with them? Support products not companies is my belief.

I agree. As the client is paying the bill, why do you have to be loyal to a company? Support the product, ditch the company if you're not happy.

I'm sure you remember when a certain ISP (not mentioning names) got personal with some customers on these forums a while back with a "We're already a big company thanks to mom and pop, we don't need your business, we don't care about offering you the most competitive price" implication. They lost far more than they'd anticipated thanks to such poor ethical conduct, and that wasn't just about price... and I for one am the same: I do not support any company that treats the customer as nothing more than a money machine... On the contrary, I will "become a fan" (support) a company that can not only satisfy my needs/wants, but also still show customer loyalty and aftersales service on a personal/humble level. I'd much rather pay a bit more to eat food that I can be assured has been grown on a farm where the workers treat the animals like animals rather than just another of the 10'000 other 'meat-growing' objects in the factory. It's not all about "finding the lowest price for the same quantity"... at least not for all of us... I like my money to go into responsible hands :)

@Xhaphan: That email was sent about 12 hours ago :) A hushed silence has fallen over these forums today as everyone returns to browsing, downloading, etc.

Yeah lol, but wasn't home for almost the whole day hehe :D And yes, its true, there is much less posts now...
Just glad to see that its still on after I was away for the weekend

Somehow I can't help but to laugh at the most of you. Even with the whole seacom thing my usage for the month will still not be anything shy of amazing for the prise. Secondly, since Friday I have not been home and on my adsl connection, I spent time in our beachfront house and for the price it s amazing ;)

Prise? Anyway to prise you of the net must be difficult. I agree with you fully. All these moaners due to a unplanned hiccup. Ungrateful is the key word. Would be nice tho if we could have instant backup in the future. Hands up for those ISP's that arranged for alternate routes during this tried times.

I said mybByes to TELKOM ISP. They closed my account by "accident" last week and when they offered to reopen a new one I declined in jest. Only question is if Mweb can equal the Saix speed, performance and as we saw, the reliability?

I've been averaging 3.2kb.s the whole day on astraweb... I have a 4MB line, so thats 0.625% of my line capacity - Great for R1000 a month.
