You guys do realize SEACOM is still down, at least until 22 July, we are running on backup bandwidth at the moment. Its to be expected that latency/torrent speeds won't be ideal.

Dynamic shaping enabled? Downloading a file from RS at the moment, it goes full line speed for 15 - 20 secs then down to less than 100 and up again. Then after awhile it drops to 4KB/s for quite sometime before resuming the whole cycle again.

You do realize I was testing all LOCAL, and not international, thus f-all to do with seacom? facepalm ... :wtf: Don't care about torrents, don't use them.... I do however game on local servers ;)

Well you see it has to do with the lunar alignment that is bouncing off alpha particles coming from the sun. Now to the normal human eye this is not a problem, but when you are under the sea and with the water being a factor that is defractive and all this is different. There under the sea the alpha particles and be bounced in the broken seacom cable and this causes havoc at the local exchange - thus messing with your throughput because of deflective latency and alpha VS omega particles of the TCP packets and so forth and so on.

LOL.... seems to be a full moon then.... full of shyte ;)

BTW, for most of the last week since Seacom has been down, I still maintained 30ms pings to local servers... So today was just baaaaaad... but its betta now!

my download speeds on Astraweb this evening are double what they usually are - I assume the "abusers" are no longer on the network?

If any subscribers could comment on PSN gaming and others, like WoW, on the 384kpbs uncapped service, DURING THE DAY, I would highly appreciate.

To give you an idea, Steam only managed to connect after 4:30 today.

Actually, with Seacom down, a lot of local traffic is being re-routed to get JHB ppl down to SAT3 for example. So yes, even local traffic is being affected.

I am now starting to see why so many guys are bypassing their shaping rules... I started a newsgroup download yesterday this time - its been averaging 4kb/s on a 4MB line the entire time.

I have been using MWEB uncapped 384 for last 2 months.
It has had its ups and downs but in general I am happy with it.

Doing around 40GB per month which is fine for me. Surfing, youtube, skype voice/video and VPN speeds always good.
NZB downloads runs full speed at night, during the day slow but who cares.

It is just nice to be able to leave everything running and not have to worry about running out of cap :)

Ohhh now you have done it! :D

This is classic... just for the hell of it, I changed from Astraweb (3KB/s) to blocknews (3KB/s) to MWEB's newsgroup (30KB/s)

Something funny happened with my torrents this morning. My speeds got better after 07:00 instead of getting worse. They must have their shaping times swapped around...

Yeah, I saw the same thing :-) Was pretty cool !
Last night I have loads of crap trying to download from oron.com while sharingmatrix was running at full speed.
