Anyone having internet access problems from PS3?

Mine seems to be like a yoyo - but I'm not sure if its MWEB or my cabling skills - ran two new UTP cables at home over the weekend, and have had problems since, but the UTP Cable Tester shows no problems with the cables.

Mweb, today I noticed quite an unusual thing.

I was wanting to try out my game in the hopes it would be somewhat playable this evening. I noticed my account was going rather sluggish via HTTP so I switched to my afrihost account, when I was playing my latency was 700. :(
So I switched to my Mweb account and tried playing, joy of joys it was running at 295, which is what I am used to on a good day (never in the evening). About 5mins later it suddenly shot up to 700 again. I was confused by this as surely it wouldn't just do this. I rebooted my router and it did the same thing, started out fine and then went to hell rather quickly.

Is this your shaping taking into action? Because surely if it ran at that low ping for a bit and then went up it means my line is not the problem?

Hi Pooky,

Am I correct that you tested both Mweb and Afrihost and got the same result?

Mweb Operations

You also get Microsoft TCPview that will show you which programs is using your network

It sounds to me like your machine may be making connections out and when you switch accounts you drop those connections and it then starts up again after a while
(Which is why it worked great when you switched to MWEB and then started going slow again)

I'm seeing a similar thing on games. The ping takes time to settle.

No I have a Network Monitor, I have made sure that nothing is using anything except the game.

@Pooky I would tend to want to agree with Veneficus, 700 is really on the extreme side and I would say outside the range of the issues we're discussing in the other thread on latency. Are we talking about local gaming, or international?

I'm positive my computer is not making connections as it is the same when I try from my brothers computer.

The server is hosted in EU.

Screw that, they shape me like this and i am OUT.

Both accounts. I should be able to connect at least to the news server. Rather go capped Afrihost if that's the case?

Yip, I'm giving Afrihost uncapped another go and so far (account is 2 hours old) it's impressive but we will see how it is 100-150gigs in...

Let's see if MWEB Operations or Will@MWEB replies to this issue.

Seems to have kicked in at about 8 this morning according to the network monitor. If speeds are going faster tonight then they have enforced the shaping on the @mweb accounts to. Which would be a pity because i was really really happy with the account thus far.

lol 4kB/s connecting to news server. First time it's been shaped so much.

Could this be the beginning of the end me wonders.

Yeah i see DigiChilli is also having issues, not to worried at this stage but a little concerned that the shaping has become to aggressive. Will have to wait and see... time will tell if i am moving ISP's (Again).
