MWEB Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

I have told Will@Mweb about it because he cried about the illegal and immoral content of other broken files that I provided him with.

Lets see if he really does want to help and if this file can get them to fix the cache server once and for all.

Are you suggesting he should have downloaded the "illegal and immoral content"? :wtf:

@Rouxenator have you tried rebooting your router and then downloading? Maybe it is cached on there?

No, just download a single volume of a password protected multi part archive to see why the proxy server has a broken copy of it and then fix said proxy server for the better of all subscribers.

Without the other parts and the password it cannot become "illegal and immoral content". But hey, thats higher grade stuff so I don't think you will comprehend.

Could be hey - my router is so amazing it not only has gigabytes of storage on it for caching, oh no, it also lets other subscribers use its cache :D

Hello MWEB,
Whats with the aggressive shaping on p2p since the beginning of the year? I can hardly get 30kb/s during the day and 100 kb/s at night. If I use my IS account I easily hit 400 kb/s at anytime of the day or night. According to your help-desk the speeds I am getting are acceptable speeds for an uncapped account. I am not looking for zero shaping on my account, just stop being so aggressive, as it defeats the purpose of an uncapped account.
Please look into the issue and come back with a solution.

Hi Craig

Is your IS account a capped account?

We recommend to all P2P users is to consider the overall amount of bandwidth you have used for the month, rather than speed watch on a daily basis.

If you require the immediacy of line speed transfers for your P2P needs then I would urge you to consider moving to an unshaped product.

MWEB Operations

On a few occasions today, including now (6pm on Wed), I have been getting a high rate of lost packets on CT-London via SAT-3 (MWeb international peering), and sometimes high latency too. Anyone else noticing?

P.S. Don't ask me to PM my account details, the tracert is very clear where the problem is!

Hi

There is an IPC outage at the moment; "MWEB IPC services in the All Areas area will be Inaccessible due to a Authentication problem." Our Technicians are working on the problem and we hope to have this resolved shortly.

The Network Status Notices page (Cape Town mirror) is not showing anything:
http://www.mweb.co.za/helpcentre/NetworkStatusNotices/tabid/1765/Default.aspx

Edit: The MWeb Mobi site (CT mirror) does seem to be reflecting Network Notices:
http://www.mweb.mobi/Outages.aspx?outageType=DSL

Code: 9492
Provider: MWEB IPC outage affecting All Areas
Description: MWEB IPC services in the following area may be Inaccessible : All Areas
Date: 2011-01-05 18:37:41
Status: Open

I'm also getting lost packets at the Clareinch exchange (hop 3). Not a great experience today...

Hello MWEB,

You seem to be missing the point of my request. Can you start being specific in your answers or is it a company policy to be as vague as possible?

Please tell me what bandwidth I should have used by the 5th of the month, so I can make sure my usage is not impacting your profitability and the other MWEB users.

Having a line capable of 4Mb/s, but rarely peaking at 1Mb/s and averaging 0.3Mb/s defeats the purpose of any account now.

All I am asking is that you relax the aggressiveness of the shaping you are currently performing. If this is not possible, say so and give your users accurate figures of what to expect, instead of the vague replies you keep on providing.

Regards
Craig

The podcast downloaded correctly this afternoon @ 3ish, will try my other podcasts tomorrow and post the results here.

Hi Craig

The network will dynamically assign bandwidth to subscribers based on the number of subscribers who are trying to use the bandwidth (the pie stays the same size, but everyone’s slice gets smaller the more people you try to feed).

Kind regards

Did something just change MWEB's side? I've been enjoying latency of 190ms over the last few weeks; a few minutes ago my connection dropped, and now I've reconnected I'm back at the old ~270ms.

Can anyone else connect to astroweb in SLL mode ?

I have no connection at present

I am in Cape Town...
