extraction without fail. that makes it 6 files, downloaded from filesonic without the cache monster striking...

Glad to see that, its also the case with most of my filesonic downloads - they come in flawlessly. But when they break its bad... real bad.

So it still seems there is no fix for broken cached downloads.

Also, something is very wrong with Mweb this morning :

I am experiencing very high latency and packet loss:

Code:

way slow!!!

It appears to be back to normal for me now.

It's 'normal' now, but I'm still getting an unacceptably high rate (2-5%) of dropped packets on the London end of SAT-3 (CogentoCo and Telia.Net). Droppage should be zero (unless the cricket at Newlands is causing temporary congestion?) I'm half-wanting to go back onto SEACOM for a while...

Belated correction: I realised my packet loss was a local problem (Clareinch exchange crashed last week), and was solved by rebooting my modem.

It turns out that ADSL2+ does not show CRC errors (on my modem at least), and packet loss in tracert appeared to come from international links.

Is Steam very slow for anyone else? Only getting 20kb/s on 4mb. Switching servers doesn't help.

<snip>

We recommend to all P2P users is to consider the overall amount of bandwidth you have used for the month, rather than speed watch on a daily basis.

If you require the immediacy of line speed transfers for your P2P needs then I would urge you to consider moving to an unshaped product.

+1

These two points are a perfect summary/answer for 99% of all uncapped discussions/complaints on these forums.

Sure if we are talking about p2p, it has been made abundantly clear that p2p protocols are more than excessively shaped during "business hours".

Can we get an update on what is going on? The IPC issue has been affecting mweb customers for more than two days now on and off. When will this be resolved?

I'm trying to figure out if there is something wrong with my line, or whether M-Web is having problems:

* I am on a 4MB uncapped, shaped product,
* Recently, my ADSL was hit by lightning and Telkom replaced the DSLAM. When it was replaced, it was running really quickly (usual speeds as before the line was hit)
* After a while, speeds dropped. Not just on P2P, but also normal HTTP downloads from decent servers. Browsing also is sluggish - downloads all chug along at 20 to 80KB/s.

If I try the same file early in the morning before leaving for work, it downloads wildly between 20KB/s and goes up to 140KB/s... at all other times it's slow.

Is anyone else having these problems?
