Still seems iffy at times. Couple of page time outs and then bursts of speed followed by nothingness... But its better than it was.

Thanks Rouxenator, please keep me informed if it deteriorate.

Kind regards,

Have you tried the mweb news server without ssl connection? Mine very seldom go under 20k and is normally above 30k.

Hello all. I am relatively new to the technological aspect of the internet. Most of the terms used here require me to refer to google dictionary. So please bear with me and i apologise if i annoy some of u.

Im so jealous! 160 kbps sounds like heaven! ur lucky.

I switched ISP from telkom to mweb uncapped since august 2010. I was happy with the speed and connection and the only difference to me was that i now have no limit downloading my stuff. Imagine the happy camper i was? Lately tho, I hate the internet. My 384kbps downloads at 20-30kbps nowdays. and this previous saturday at 23:30 i hit 10kbps. I wanted to lay down my head and cry. I canceld the download and have been affraid to restart it. the file was only 60MB.

Is this normal? Can it be fixed? Should i upgrade the speed? I was under the impression 384kbps was ok and was advised by the mweb operator to stick with it for my home use. perhaps its outdated now?

please help. And thank u.

Is it free? I'm on trial @ giganews, and it was fine friday and saturday.

Can I get the details for mweb on the site?

It is free. Server is news.mweb.co.za and port is 119. Content older than 200 days is not available, but this is normally not a problem for me.

Well as long as I know that a few of you are experiencing the same horrible speeds. As this is a trial run, I'm checking the speeds. Was hoping for at least 20K.

Luckily the PS3 were super fast over the weekend. Downloaded a few demos etc.

Hi news&confused

It could also be the file itself affecting the speed; is this the only file you are having speed issues with?

Please also Dm me your mweb email address and I will investigate further.

Kind regards,

I can actually confirm that the last level of retention is 230d not 200d

SABnzbd gives me the following message:
news.mweb.co.za:119: Failed to connect: (10060, "(10060, 'Operation timed out')") 1@news.mweb.co.za:119

But I am able to ping the server:
