I am running off a 384kbps line off Mweb, if I'm lucky I get speeds of about 5kbps on peer to peer download, modem portforwarding etc is setup up properly, does anyone have any advice? My gmail is exceptionally slow too as is most other browsing.

provide something likes speedtest.net to see if you get your max line speed.

5kbs sounds right during day for a 384

Yes a speedtest check would be helpful. You could also disable protected access on your account as this can sometimes interfere with incoming P2P connections. You can do this yourself via the myaccount interface on the mweb site, or you could PM MWEB Guy your username and he'll do it for you.

Full speed from rapidshare, but news servers are running at 5kbps (both Mweb and Astraweb) on my 384 shaped account. Shaping seems to be turned around the last couple of days.

I am getting an erratic ping in WoW since 4.1
I have tried disabling the new network optimize feature too.

Edit: Actually it seems it's not just WoW. Also getting some packet loss.

Hi Soulcode,

What are the pings you are getting on WoW? Please PM me your results and I will look into it from my side.

Slow HTTP Downloads Today

Are there speed issues with normal HTTP downloading today? These always run reliably at ~38kBps on my 384kbps shaped line. Today I'm lucky to get 30kBps.

I noticed it first when I was running some Ubuntu updates from the local mirror. I then tried pulling an ISO from a local mirror and an international site. All slow. They would all usually run at maximum line speed. Ideas?

Power-cycled the router. No difference. Lucky to get 30kBps on Ubuntu updates from local mirror. :(

Seems that magic dip happened again ....... that's probably why you have lower speed. My news server is going half speed again, no biggy for me but obviously a biggy for the 384 users

Yeah, ~30kBps on a 384kbps line means I'm only getting around 75 - 80% of my maximum line speed, and on 384, you need everything you can get :)

How long do these magical dips last? :wtf:

Fetched 52.8MB in 33min 32s (26.3kB/s)

For HTTP Ubuntu updates from a local mirror that really sucks (For the record, I was doing a little light browsing for a few minutes during the download, but that's all). Seriously sucky. What's up with this MWEB? This always runs at ~38kB/s.

@MWEB: Thanks.

I completed the Ubuntu upgrade and restarted the machine. ISO downloads still only peaking at 30kBps. I then realized that the latest release of Ubuntu is out today and possibly the local and international servers were under load. I've just tried pulling down a Fedora ISO instead as a test. Still only peaking at 30kBps so it's not related to server load at Ubuntu sites. The speed of downloads is also jumping around. It goes to 11kBps, then 20, then 27, then 30, then 14, then 20, etc. Never seen that before either.
