Be grateful for it Adrenalin, many 4 Mbps subscribers would kill for that right now :D

NNTP - Dead in the water

My NNTP is dead in the water. 0 KB/s on 4Mbps line.

However...I don't know if MWEB is to blame. When I do a traceroute to the destination news server (an international one) my packets get lost in transit.

MWEB, please speak to your backbone SPs (SAT3, WACS or SEACOM).

Interesting i cannot download something from http and browse even if i am limiting the download to 100kb/s.

It's almost like mweb is now shaping http very badly.

If i run the download unlimited it won't go over 120kb/s. I may as well just get openweb gold uncapped 1024, same speed.

"Odd Complaint"

1st time poster, so bear with me....

I've an "Odd Complaint" ... 0 KB/s Usenet download .... Anyone else with the same issue???

"Odd Complaint" aside, using the same 4 MB line, Vox Orion & Telkom > 400kBps from Astraweb

You me and a couple hundred other people buddy... welcome! :)

Hopefully we'll have more posters joining and posting and then MWEB might actually drop the BS excuse they are currently giving.

My astraweb is also dead...

Mweb news is working for me at about 50kb at the moment. I want to download some older stuff, which is not available on mweb news.

You know what, I'd be happy with 50KB/s if it was stable - but not on the MWEB server - I pay for a ND account, I should be allowed to use that account - I don't need some damn techy phoning me and telling me that NNTP only works on MWEB accounts via MWEB news server - stuff that!

Perhaps we talk mrbeep into giving us a special on the 4 meg uncapped gold :D. R 650.00 and he has a deal :D.

R 800.00 is a bit much although it would be nice to have a 4 meg line again.

It doesn't seem like there is any urgency on mweb's part in fixing this. If it was my company people would be looking for a solution 24/7 until it was fixed. Yet probably in bed sleeping right now

High Zee

I have noted several customers raising the question regarding nntp speeds and it is one of the issues I have been discussing with our engineers over the last while. At this point though, as I stated above, to make any change specifically to the treatment of nntp traffic would require a significant adjustment to the way that we currently handle p2p traffic and this isn't something we can simply just 'fix' as whatever we change will almost certainly have some degree of knock-on effect.

I will continue to do what I can to raise the awareness on this issue and to provide our engineers with a full understanding of the customer experience in this area, but careful consideration will have to go into how we address this matter and I would be creating a false expectation if I promised you any quick fixes at this point.

Hi Will@Mweb, the only fix realy is to abandon this shiit service Mweb became to offer. I was called this afternoon and asked if I note any improvements today as the London server were "updated", I promised to test the system and found this is a disaster as my experience was never as bad as it was today. Never ever. You are going from bad to worse I am sorry to say. I broke a few records. today. I was kicked of KZ3 10+ times this afternoon the max until today was maybe 3 times in 24hours, lag of greater than 1minute was prevalent. What a Mweb mess. Seems to me Mweb do not have a clue what they are doing just as it seemed Rudi CEO have no clue what he has done since 1 April referring to his MyBB article. He believe he rescued Mweb by giving a better service, may for profits but for us there is no benefit at all. I am done with your Mweb lies and crappy service. I said I will wait and see what happens when your techs called me. Sorry but Mweb failed miserably.

What I cannot understand is the speed test results. It seems better now at 21:30 but I was just kicked of the KZ3 network again due to lag.

One minute it's flying

Erratic as hell.

So really I give up.

Let's call it a mweb migration special

Or even a 2 Mbps option that costs a bit more than the 1 Mbps account, say R500-R550.

I"m getting 0Kbps on Astraweb and Mweb - and I know the content is cached on Mweb. It was working during the day, but at 18:00 to the minute it died.

1KB/s a sec - all my threads are dead / dying and then I have to select all and retry.

It's only "ODD" that I would "COMPLAIN" about this... "CONSTANTLY!" :D
